You know what struck me first about XXIV Domus? It’s tucked away on Via Ezio in this perfectly quiet corner of Prati that somehow feels like you’ve discovered Rome’s best-kept secret. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from the Vatican Museums, but the street itself is so residential and peaceful – none of that tourist chaos you’d expect. The building has this elegant, understated facade that doesn’t scream “hotel” at all, which I actually loved because it felt more like staying at a sophisticated friend’s place.

The suites themselves are honestly impressive for a four-star property. They’ve gone for this modern luxury approach without being cold or sterile – think clean lines but with warm textures and really thoughtful lighting. The bathrooms are particularly well done (marble everywhere, rainfall showers that actually have proper pressure), and the kitchenettes are functional enough that you could grab groceries from the Carrefour down on Via Cola di Rienzo and actually cook something decent. What really got me was the attention to details you don’t always see – like the blackout curtains that actually block out light, and the air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a jet engine. Small things, but they matter when you’re trying to recover from walking fifteen miles around the Colosseum.

The location is where this place really shines, though. Prati is one of those neighborhoods that Romans actually live in – you’ll see families doing their evening passeggiata, locals grabbing aperitivo at the corner bars, real neighborhood life happening around you. Via Ottaviano metro station is maybe five minutes away, so getting to the Spanish Steps or Pantheon is easy, but you can also just wander over to Castel Sant’Angelo or walk along the Tiber when the crowds get overwhelming. There’s this fantastic little osteria, Dal Toscano, just around the corner that serves the kind of cacio e pepe that makes you understand why Romans are so particular about their pasta – definitely not a tourist trap, just honest food. The staff at XXIV Domus seems to know all these local spots too, which is refreshing because you get actual recommendations instead of the usual guidebook suggestions. Honestly, staying here felt like getting an insider’s view of Rome rather than just checking off monuments, and for a city that can feel pretty overwhelming, that made all the difference.

  This is one of those hotels managed entirely through a WhatsApp group. No face-to-face contact with the staff was made except for on my arrival, one of the housekeeping staff gave me the keys and instructions on how to gain access to the building and the hotel in question. I never saw anyone else around.
  
  What could be improved: Rooms are small and could have used some sprucing up as the walls were scoffed and the towel holder had come off the wall completely.

  The location was great. An easy walk to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and major shopping districts. A TON of great restaurants on the same block and surrounding blocks of the property. The room was clean and well maintained and staff was very friendly and accommodating. The espresso machine in the lobby was a nice touch as well!
  
  What could be improved: The suites are newly renovated and modern but in an old building. The elevator in the building was very small, so it's a little tight especially if you have larger suitcases. That was really my only issue, but it was a non-issue.
