Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Rome, but this spot on Via degli Scipioni really surprised me. You know what I mean when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, someone actually put thought into this”? That’s Vatican Prestige Apt. The building itself is one of those classic Roman structures that doesn’t scream tourist trap from the outside – honestly, I walked past it twice before realizing I’d found the right address. The entrance is understated, which I actually appreciate because it means you’re not dealing with tour groups clogging up the lobby.

The location is genuinely brilliant, and I don’t say that lightly. Via degli Scipioni runs parallel to the main drag that leads to St. Peter’s, but it’s far enough removed that you escape the circus of street vendors and crowds. I mean, you can walk to the Vatican Museums in about twelve minutes (I timed it), but you’re staying in what feels like an actual Roman neighborhood. There’s this little alimentari around the corner where the owner, Giuseppe, makes the best supplì I’ve had outside of Testaccio – the kind of place you stumble onto when you’re not surrounded by fifty other tourists. The Cipro Metro stop is right there too, which honestly saved my feet more than once when I wanted to venture into the centro storico.

What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel like a proper apartment rather than a sterile hotel room. The kitchenette is actually functional – I made coffee there every morning and even picked up some groceries from the Carrefour Express down the street. The bathroom has one of those rainfall showers that actually works (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case), and the bed is comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with Roman cobblestones all night. The air conditioning runs quietly, which matters when you’re trying to sleep during those sweltering July nights. I will say the elevator is tiny – typical for Rome – so if you’re traveling with massive suitcases, be prepared for some creative maneuvering.

The 8.5 rating makes sense to me because it delivers on the stuff that actually matters without trying to be something it’s not. You’re not getting a concierge or room service, but you are getting a clean, well-equipped base in one of Rome’s most livable neighborhoods. I loved being able to grab breakfast at the bar downstairs (they do a proper cornetto and cappuccino), then walk through the tree-lined streets toward the Vatican without feeling like I was part of some tourist parade. Evenings were spent wandering the Prati district, which has this wonderful mix of locals doing their evening shopping and enough good restaurants that you could eat well for a week without repeating yourself. It’s the kind of place where you can actually imagine living in Rome for a bit, rather than just surviving it.

Reviews

  • Superb – Barry from Australia – 3 July 2025 (9/10)

I highly recommend staying at this spacious three-bedroom apartment. It was clean, tidy, and the air conditioning was a lifesaver during a particularly hot spell—with units in each bedroom and the dining area to keep things comfortable.

One thing to note: the third bedroom is a dual-use space, serving as both a lounge and a bedroom, but it worked well for our needs. The beds were very comfortable, and the showers had great water pressure.

There's also a small lift in the building, which was a huge help when traveling with large suitcases.

The location is fantastic—an easy walk to the Vatican and less than five minutes to the Metro. There are plenty of great restaurants and cafés nearby as well. The host was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay.

  • Excellent – Giles from United Kingdom – 25 June 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: The damp musty smell

  • Exceptional – Antoinette from Ireland – 5 March 2025 (10/10)

It was very spacious, super close to the attractions and the metro. The staff were super attentive and helpful throughout our 4 day stay.

    What could be improved: N/A

  • Great value for location and space. Highly recommend it! – Jessica from United States – 7 July 2024 (9/10)

Very clean and has ample space

What could be improved: Did not have smart tvs but it wasn’t a huge issue since we were out and about

  • Excellent stay at Vatican Prestige Apartments – Ravish from India – 4 June 2024 (10/10)

Very clean and fully furnished apartment.

What could be improved: Since it’s an apartment there’s no one to make the beds in evening. That would have been a plus! But the apartment is good overall

  • Superb – Trevor from United Kingdom – 10 March 2024 (9/10)

Spacious apartment with three separate bedrooms, dining area and kitchen

What could be improved: Pre-registration was time consuming

  • Great! – Ivana from Switzerland – 14 November 2023 (10/10)

It was very big and clean. Location was great! I would stay again here.

What could be improved: The only thing I did not like were the pillows and not enough coffee for the days we stayed.

  • Perfect, modern and well located aparment with a perfect communication and help of the host/office. – Katarína from Slovakia – 15 August 2023 (10/10)

The apartment was perfect, modern and spacious. It was much bigger than expected, there were 3 big bedrooms and two bathrooms – wonderful! Amazing location to get to know Rome on foot. We would book it again certainly!

What could be improved: There was no disadvantage – we lived the place!

  • Clean, comfortable apartment in a first-rate location – Skip from United States – 24 March 2023 (10/10)

Excellent location 5 minute walk from the Metro, 10 minutes to Vatical Museums entrance. Restaurants, markets, and shopping surround the site. Friendly, helpful, and patient staff–always available and ready to help.

  • wonderful stay – Sandry from Indonesia – 1 January 2023 (9/10)

closed to vatican , metro, and supermarket
