Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Rome, but Vatican Colors Rooms really surprised me – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you’re climbing up to the fourth floor on Via Leone IV (there’s an elevator, thank god), you might wonder what you’ve gotten yourself into, but honestly? The location is just perfect. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Vatican Museums, which means you can actually beat the crowds if you’re smart about it, and the whole Trionfale neighborhood has this lived-in Roman feel that most tourists never see.

The rooms themselves are… well, they’re exactly what you’d want after spending eight hours wandering through the Sistine Chapel and your feet are killing you. Everything feels fresh and thoughtfully put together – not that sterile hotel chain vibe, but not trying too hard to be boutique either. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this stuff), and here’s something I really appreciated: the windows actually open, so you can hear the real sounds of Rome in the morning. You know, the Vespa engines starting up, people heading to work, that sort of authentic city noise that makes you feel like you’re actually somewhere. The bathrooms are modern and spacious enough that you won’t be bumping into your travel partner every five seconds, which – trust me – matters more than you think.

What really sets this place apart though is how the whole experience just works. The staff actually knows the neighborhood, not just the tourist spots, so when I asked about where to grab a decent coffee in the morning, they pointed me toward this little bar two blocks away where Romans actually go. And parking – if you’re crazy enough to drive in Rome – there are spots on the street that locals know about, though honestly, you’re better off using the metro from Ottaviano station, which is right there. The area gets busy during the day with all the Vatican foot traffic, but evenings are surprisingly peaceful. I stayed here in both June and October, and while summer was predictably touristy, October had this perfect balance where you could still enjoy the neighborhood without feeling like you were swimming upstream through crowds. The 9-star rating isn’t just inflated reviews either – this place delivers on the details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days, not just crashing for a night.

  We had a great stay! The apartment offered excellent value for money and was in a fantastic location. Everything was like brand new, super clean, and very comfortable. Check-in was easy and smooth, and communication with the host was quick and problem-free. Overall, everything was great and we really couldn’t find anything to complain about; highly recommend!
  
  What could be improved: There were just a few small things that could improve the comfort even more: adding more shelves or storage space in the bathroom would be very helpful, as there wasn’t much room for toiletries. A few more hangers in the bathroom and wardrobe, and perhaps larger pillows, would also be appreciated. These are just minor suggestions, though, and didn’t negatively affect our stay.

  Great place to stay. The room was comfy, great location and the host Pasquale was great! Super friendly and gave us so many good recommendations.
  Would definitely stay here again.
  The Vatican just a few blocks aways, the metro quite near and loads of cafes, restaurants and shops in the area.

  Camera accogliente e bagno moderni, nuovi. Posizione ottima a 6 minuti dalla metro Ottaviano e da alcuni bus per spostarsi (ad esempio 23 sotto casa per Trastevere). Sotto casa nella zona ci sono anche molti ristoranti, pasticcerie e locali ottimi.
  Personale molto disponibile ed accogliente sia in merito a consigliare posti da provare a Roma sia per lasciare le valigie dopo il check out.
  Quartiere tranquillo anche per il rientro alla sera e nessun rumore di notte.
