Hotel Description

You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Rome, but Twilight Terrace genuinely surprised me. The name sounds a bit cheesy, I’ll admit, but once you climb up to the fifth floor on Via delle Carrozze – and yes, there’s an elevator, thank god – you realize they picked it for a reason. The terrace views at sunset are actually spectacular, looking out over the Spanish Steps area without the tourist chaos right below your window.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without feeling like you’re sleeping in a souvenir shop. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Spanish Steps, but because you’re tucked away on delle Carrozze, you don’t get the street noise that plagued my last stay near the Trevi Fountain. I mean, you can still hear the city – it’s Rome, after all – but it’s more like a gentle urban hum than the party madness you’d expect. The building itself feels properly Roman, with those thick walls that keep things surprisingly cool even in August. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too, which sounds obvious but isn’t always the case. When I mentioned wanting good carbonara that wasn’t touristy, the guy at reception immediately pointed me toward a tiny place on Via della Croce that I never would have found otherwise.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The shower pressure is excellent – honestly, better than my apartment back home. The beds are firm enough that you don’t wake up feeling like you wrestled with a marshmallow all night. And here’s something I appreciated: they have blackout curtains that actually work, plus those little reading lights that don’t wake up your travel companion. The rooms aren’t massive, but they’re thoughtfully designed with enough outlets in the right places and a proper desk if you need to catch up on work. The breakfast situation is solid too – nothing fancy, but good coffee and pastries from a local bakery, not the sad hotel buffet stuff you sometimes get.

I stayed here in both spring and fall, and honestly, both times were great. Spring gets busy with the wedding photo crowds at the Spanish Steps, but you’re high enough up that it’s just entertainment from your window. Fall is probably my favorite though – fewer tourists, perfect weather for walking around, and the whole neighborhood has this lovely settled feeling. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the building entrance is easy to miss if you’re not looking for it, and hauling luggage up those Roman streets from the taxi drop-off can be a bit of a workout. But the location means you can walk to Villa Borghese, the Pantheon, even Campo de’ Fiori without breaking a sweat, and that’s worth the slightly hidden entrance. Plus, being on the fifth floor means you get these wonderful glimpses of Roman rooftops and church domes that you’d never see from street level.

Location is perfect, Spanish steps just around the corner. Great coffee and breakfast spot right down the entrance. Sunny terraces on 5th floor. Pedestrian street. All was clean and nice, warm.

    What could be improved: –

  • our week long stay was enhanced by the location and comfort of this apartment. – Nina from United States – 16 November 2024 (9/10)

The location was ideal. The two terraces, since we had unusually warm weather in November, were great features. The bed was very comfortable. The layout was perfect for a couple with a 2nd small bedroom to use as a dressing room/den.

What could be improved: We would have liked a microwave and some more bowls.

  • Amazing location and the best hosts – Harrison from United States – 16 November 2024 (10/10)

I spend a lot of time in Italy and London and I’ve been to 113 countries. This is a great apartment and it’s very centrally located, with one of the best locations in Rome.

The hosts, Luca and Layla, are both great. Super friendly and kind and treat you like family. Luca’s mother even came over and I got to meet her, which was a highlight, she’s wonderful as well. I highly recommend staying at this apartment.

  • Exceptional – Yvonne from United Kingdom – 6 November 2024 (10/10)

Everything, an immaculate apartment in an amazing location, with a stunning outdoor terrace. Would definitely choose to stay here again.

  • Great place – Pavel from Cyprus – 19 October 2024 (10/10)

Definitely 10 out of 10. Perfect location, great apartment with all the necessary utilities, a wonderful terrace and exceptionally comfortable pillows – you can feel attention to details. More than that, Layla and Luca are very welcoming hosts, we arrived quite early and they did their best to accommodate us as early as they could, helped us with our luggage and were always in touch.

  • Lovely accommodation, good host that made us feel welcomed and offered any help and information if we needed it. – Michael from United Kingdom – 2 June 2024 (10/10)

    Great location, near Spanish steps
One of the two bedroom very nice with ensuite.
Kitchen and cooking facilities with microwave and really nice to have plenty of coffee pods and an nespresso machine.
Nice balcony to sit out on

What could be improved: The second bedroom wasn’t as cosy as the main bedroom and unfortunately to get to the Bathroom you had to go through into the second bedroom
