Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Twentyone Hotel? It’s actually tucked away on Via Cola Di Rienzo in a way that feels deliberately understated – like someone who knows Rome well decided to create something special without shouting about it. The location is honestly perfect if you’re planning to hit the Vatican but don’t want to deal with the tourist circus every time you step outside. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from St. Peter’s, but the street itself has this lovely residential Roman vibe with actual locals doing their grocery shopping and grabbing coffee at the corner bars.

The hotel itself has this modern boutique feel that somehow doesn’t clash with the classic Roman architecture around it. Walking in, there’s this clean, minimalist lobby that smells faintly of good coffee and maybe lavender – nothing overpowering, just… nice. The staff actually seem to know the neighborhood well, which is rarer than you’d think in Rome hotels. They’ll tell you about the little family-run trattoria two blocks down that doesn’t have an English menu, or mention that the best gelato in Prati is actually the unassuming place on Via Germanico, not the flashy one near the metro. Check-in was smooth, and honestly, they seem genuinely interested in making sure you have a good time rather than just processing you through. The rooms are well-designed – not huge by American standards, but thoughtfully laid out with proper lighting for reading and decent storage space. The beds are actually comfortable, and the bathrooms have those rainfall showerheads that work properly. What I appreciated most was the soundproofing; Via Cola Di Rienzo can get busy during the day with shoppers and locals, but inside you’d barely know it. The air conditioning works well too, which matters more than you’d think during Roman summers.

Here’s the thing about this place – it’s got that sweet spot quality where it feels upscale without being pretentious, and the 8.2 rating makes sense when you experience it. The Prati neighborhood is where Romans actually live and work, so you’ll find yourself grabbing morning cappuccinos alongside office workers and families rather than just other tourists. Plus, the metro connection at Lepanto is super convenient when you want to explore beyond the Vatican area. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to feel like I was living in Rome for a few days rather than just visiting it. It’s the kind of place that gets the details right without making a big deal about it.

Reviews

  • Good location central – some nice restaurants around the area. – Sandra from New Zealand – 29 June 2025 (7/10)

    Location, breakfast, gym facility

What could be improved: Bed was hard and squeaky, room was very small – staff were very unfriendly and made no effort to make us feel welcome – just very functional in their duties.

  • Good location – nice restaurant – comfy room – Mary from Malaysia – 25 June 2025 (8/10)

Good location in a peaceful neighbourhood with lots of cafes and restaurants. Good vibe .

What could be improved: That there was insufficient cupboard space and no drawer space . Breakfast spread was the same everyday.

  • A good value within walking distance of the Vatican – Evans from United States – 10 June 2025 (8/10)

The location, friendliness of staff, a good value

What could be improved: Rome is hot during the summer months. While the commons areas were comfortable, the air conditioning could not keep the guest rooms comfortable.

  • Superb – Hanady from Lebanon – 9 June 2025 (9/10)

The view from the breakfast place, the comfort of the rooms

What could be improved: A little bit outside the center if the city but easily accessible by tram.

  • Very good – Carina from Sweden – 9 May 2025 (8/10)

Very clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was good.

What could be improved: Few englishspeaking tv channells.

  • Love it, I have been there twice and would go again.Perfec for me! – Jesus from United States – 7 May 2025 (7/10)

    Great breakfast

What could be improved: All was ok

  • Good stay. Perfect location – Igorskor from United Kingdom – 6 May 2025 (9/10)

Staff was friendly. Room was very clean. Location is perfect…walking distance from all famous places.

What could be improved: There was one confusing thing. I wanted to have my dinner in the room as i spent every day walking around and exploring the City and in the end of the day felt tired. First two days i got my dinner in my room. But some staff member advised me to go out and don't stay in room for dinner. It was said in polite way. On third day i even did not manage to order anything as straight away was told to go out for dinner. I work in a hotel in England and it was strange advise because every meal you have on site is an extra money for hotel, for company. Even it was said very nicely it made me feel unwanted. But meals i had for dinner in first two nights was really good.

  • We were very happy with our stay in Twenty One Hotel. – Jones from United Kingdom – 17 April 2025 (8/10)

The staff at the hotel were excellent.
    The location was good.
The breakfast had a great range.

What could be improved: We had one evening meal at the hotel. The service was great and the meal was good – just a bit expensive compared to other restaurants.

  • Excellent location, staff and hotel! – Luis from United States – 4 April 2025 (9/10)

Location, staff and room were great!

  • Very enjoyable apart from shortcomings above – Russell from Ireland – 23 March 2025 (8/10)

    Well located. Friendly staff

What could be improved: Breakfast- freshly squeezed orange juice is better. Tinned fruit salad is a poor alternative to freshly prepared fruit. Hot food not kept warm – often cold.
    Room poorly lit
No need to change towels every day!
