Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Tree Charme Trilussa, I almost questioned my booking. It’s tucked along the Lungotevere della Farnesina, which sounds fancy but is actually just the riverside street that runs parallel to the Tiber, and from the outside it has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream “look at me!” like some Roman hotels do. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes it work. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about how real people want to experience Rome, not just tourists checking boxes.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Rome rather than just visiting it. Trastevere is right there – I mean, you can walk to the heart of it in maybe ten minutes, which means you’re close to all those incredible little trattorias and wine bars that locals actually frequent. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: being on the Lungotevere means you’re just far enough from the chaos of central Trastevere to actually get some sleep at night. I stayed there during August (I know, I know, but work travel doesn’t always give you choices), and while the neighborhood was buzzing until late, the hotel itself stayed surprisingly quiet. The rooms facing the river are worth the extra cost, by the way – there’s something about waking up to that view of the Tiber that just sets the right tone for exploring the city.

What really impressed me was how the staff seemed to understand that travelers want insider knowledge, not just directions to the Colosseum. The woman at reception – I think her name was Giulia – casually mentioned that the best time to visit Villa Doria Pamphili is early morning, and that there’s a tiny bakery about three blocks away that opens at 6 AM if you want cornetti that taste like they should. These aren’t things you find in guidebooks, but they’re the details that make a trip memorable. The hotel itself feels thoughtfully designed without being precious about it – the common areas have this warm, lived-in quality that makes you want to linger with a book, and the rooms are comfortable in that Italian way where everything just works without being flashy. I will say the elevator is pretty small, so if you’re traveling with massive luggage, be prepared for some tetris-style maneuvering. But honestly, that’s a minor quibble when you’re getting this level of genuine hospitality in one of Rome’s most authentic neighborhoods. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your next Rome trip before you’ve even checked out.

Reviews

Totally modernized facilities with excellent beds and a nice bathroom/shower. Breakfast was plentiful and it was pleasant to sit outside .

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Very good – Chloé from Australia – 29 June 2025 (8/10)

    Location

  • Exceptional – Gija from United Kingdom – 25 June 2025 (10/10)

-Fabulous location with easy access to public transport and numerous restaurants
-Well decorated room with spacious bathroom and great selection of drinks and snacks at the minibar.
-Lovely breakfast served on the outdoor terrace.
-Very good air-con which was an absolute life saver in +33 heat.

  • Very good – Sandra from United Kingdom – 15 June 2025 (8/10)

The room was excellent and overlooked a square where street performers played nightly. The downside meant it was quite noisy despite double glazing and heavy curtains – and earplugs! We are in our late 70's and enjoyed being able tp partake at a distance in the comfort of our own room regardless.

What could be improved: Unable to access a shower room due to holiday arrangements being unexpectedly changed and pick up time altered . However staff were great and allowed us the use of a washroom, outside of our ooking, which enabled us to wash and change as required

  • Good stay in Trastevete – Unnur from Iceland – 10 June 2025 (9/10)

Comfortable bed, good location, soundproof windows and staff

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Most recommended – Yochanan from Israel – 6 June 2025 (9/10)

    Location
    Breakfast
    Almost the room

What could be improved: At least a chair in the room

  • Beautiful hotel, great location for access to the city – Louise from United Kingdom – 29 May 2025 (10/10)

Excellent location, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was provided and lots on offer

What could be improved: If you’re staying during a weekend the location can be noisy in the evening/night. Ear plugs are provided, however the noise didn’t seem to keep me awake or disturb too much

  • Superb – Thomas from Australia – 27 May 2025 (9/10)

We were lucky to have been given a complementary upgrade to the deluxe room. The rooms were clean and well set out. We enjoyed our stay!

  • Exceptional – Mateusz from Poland – 17 May 2025 (10/10)

Appartment is fine. Located 20 minutes walking from any tourist site. Very, very convinient. There is a lot of nice restaurants and bars nextby.

What could be improved: Beds are too short. Some painting of walls, refresh of interior would be great.
