Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Trastevere Chic? The name actually fits – it’s not one of those places where the marketing department got carried away. Walking up to the entrance on Viale Trastevere, I was honestly surprised by how modern it felt while still having that Roman character you’re hoping for. The building itself sits right in the Gianicolense area, which I’ll admit isn’t the postcard-perfect centro storico, but that’s exactly why it works.
The thing about this spot is that you’re genuinely living like a local – there’s a fantastic morning market just a few blocks down where you’ll hear more Italian than English, and the tram line practically runs past your door. I mean, you can be at the Vatican in about fifteen minutes, or hop across the river to the real Trastevere neighborhood (the touristy part) without breaking a sweat. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you’re close enough to everything but far enough from the late-night party crowds that stumble through the cobblestone streets closer to the river. The rooms have this clean, minimalist vibe that feels refreshing after a day of walking through centuries-old churches and museums. Nothing too fancy, but the beds are actually comfortable (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given in Rome), and the air conditioning works properly – crucial if you’re visiting between June and September.
Here’s what sold me on the place: the staff genuinely knows the neighborhood. When I asked about dinner recommendations, they didn’t just hand me a tourist map – they told me about this tiny trattoria three streets over where the owner’s grandmother still makes the pasta by hand. They also warned me that the nearby construction (typical Rome) starts early but stops by 7 AM, so it’s not a dealbreaker. The breakfast is simple but good – proper espresso, decent pastries, and they don’t try to pass off weird interpretations of “American breakfast” like some places do. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving, but honestly, who drives in Rome anyway? The real beauty is that you’re connected to everything without feeling like you’re staying in a tourist bubble. It’s not luxury, but it’s smart and comfortable, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re spending most of your time exploring one of the world’s greatest cities.

Reviews
Very good – Ian from United Kingdom – 21 September 2024 (8/10)
Position, clean, helpful property manager, wifi worked well, nice cafe to use breakfast vouchers
What could be improved: Key did not work well in apartment door, got stuck in the lift, chairs were very wobbly, potentially dangerousPleasant stay in the heart of Trastavere – Svetlana from Serbia – 8 January 2024 (9/10)
Apartment is in the main street of Trastavere, train station is 3 min walk from the apartment, so it is easy to come from and to the airport. There is tram 8 on the street that goes to Piazza Venezia, so it is close to the city centar! It is a beautiful neighborhood, with lots of reastaurants and fast foods. The owner and the staff is really helpful, ready to help at any times.
What could be improved: The only thing, but really minor one, is the noise from the street. Tram, traffic, ambulance cars…can be a little too much for someone. I had earplugs and our baby slept with the noise cancelling sound machine so everything was fine at the end. Would book again next time we come to Rome!Superb – Nehama from Israel – 10 September 2023 (9/10)
Very comfortable stay in a great location
It served our needs and was super clean 🙂 – Rebecca from United Kingdom – 18 July 2023 (9/10)
Adele, the contact, was great with communication and was very helpful in recommendations for places to eat. The accommodation was spotless and cleaned everyday. We were allowed to leave our luggage in the communal area as we were travelling later in the day we checked out. It was a sweet set up, ideal for our needs and good AC, which is essential in summer. The vouchers for Cafe Banno were a great bonus, authentic Italian coffee and pastry in a bustling cafe 3 minutes walk away. We went back there for the huge sandwiches too. Great value for money.
What could be improved: While the location was close to Trastevere Roma, which we got directly to from the Airport, the accommodation was a bus ride away from Central Rome for sights such as the Coliseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Spanish Steps. It is walkable (30 minutes), but towards the end of our stay the heatwave really kicked in and we couldn't walk long distances.Ok as a no frills place to sleep while visiting Rome – Pierpaolo from France – 30 October 2022 (7/10)
The location was where we wanted (affordable, reachable by train and close enough to the city center), the place was clean.
What could be improved: The room was nothing special for 4, even if this was what I expected.Good – Marietta from United States – 24 June 2025 (7/10)
Clean beds. Working AC. You get vouchers for every morning of your stay to get coffee and a pastry/person at a nice local bar few minutes from the property, right by the Roma Trastevere train station.
What could be improved: Small space. Just an average room. Bathroom needs updating. It was good. – Silkans from Latvia – 6 May 2025 (8/10)
Soft beds with clean linens — one double and one single. A balcony facing the inner courtyard, private bathroom with toilet and shower, air conditioning, TV, power sockets… basically everything you need was there.
The location is excellent for the price — right between the Colosseum and the Vatican, with buses and trams going in all directions. Buy a 7-day public transport pass from T shops (note: airport trains require a separate ticket!), validate it on your first ride, and use Google Maps to get around quickly and easily. The area around the hotel felt safe — none of the discomfort you might feel in other Western cities. There’s a strong police and carabinieri presence, with both fixed posts and mobile patrols keeping things in order.
What could be improved: Breakfast was only formal — a coupon for a coffee and croissant at a 24/7 café a few hundred meters away, so we didn’t use it. However, there was a shared kitchen for our room and three others, with a coffee machine offering unlimited coffee included in the price, as well as a kettle and six types of tea. The kitchen also had a fridge, microwave, and dishes. So overall, it was good. Just a note: I wouldn’t say 'breakfast included,' as many people (myself included) expect a proper breakfast buffet or meal on site, not a single croissant 300+/- meters away."Very good – William from United Kingdom – 28 May 2024 (8/10)
Room was clean and as described, beds were comfortable. Breakfast vouchers were for a lovely cafe by the station
Trastevere Chic – Wendy from Sweden – 10 October 2023 (9/10)
Excellent hostess and communication.
What could be improved: The single beds in the twin room were a bit smallVery good – Elena from Norway – 7 April 2023 (8/10)
Very clean. The location is great.
