Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to TownHouse by the Spanish Steps, I almost missed it entirely. The entrance on Via del Corso is pretty understated, which is actually kind of refreshing when you’re dealing with all the tourist chaos in this part of Rome. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the Spanish Steps (hence the name), but the hotel itself feels like this quiet refuge that somehow escaped the madness outside.
What really struck me was how they’ve managed to nail that whole “Roman elegance without trying too hard” thing. The lobby has this warm, lived-in feel – not sterile like some of the bigger chain hotels you’ll find around Piazza di Spagna. You know what I loved? The staff actually seems to know the neighborhood inside and out. When I asked about avoiding the crowds at the Spanish Steps, the concierge didn’t just give me some generic advice – he told me to go around 7:30 AM or after 8 PM, and honestly, that tip alone made my stay worth it. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place, nothing groundbreaking but definitely comfortable. Mine overlooked Via del Corso, which was both a blessing and a curse – great people-watching, but it can get a bit noisy during the day with all the shopping traffic below. Pro tip: if you’re a light sleeper, maybe request a room facing the courtyard.
Here’s the thing about this location though – it’s almost too convenient. You’re a 2-minute walk from the Spanish Steps, 5 minutes from the Trevi Fountain, and right in the heart of Rome’s best shopping district. But that also means you’re right in the thick of tourist central, especially during peak season. I stayed there in late September and the crowds were still pretty intense during the day. The upside? Once you duck into the hotel, it’s like entering a different world. They’ve got this small rooftop terrace that most people don’t even know about – not huge, but perfect for an evening drink when you need to decompress from a day of sightseeing. And here’s something practical that nobody mentions: there’s a decent gelato place (Giolitti) about a 10-minute walk away that’s actually where Romans go, not just tourists. The hotel’s breakfast is solid but nothing spectacular – though their coffee is legitimately good, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to fuel up for a day of walking around Rome. Overall, it’s one of those places that gets the fundamentals right without any major surprises, good or bad.

Fantastic location. Very spacious apartment with 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. There’s also a lift which is very valuable in Italy when you have lots of luggage.

Lovely city break! Great location! Quiet even though you are in the heart of Rome. We will return! – Caroline from United Kingdom – 8 February 2025 (10/10)
Location was great. Right in middle of via del Corso. Lots of restaurants, shops and supermarkets. Only 5 mins to Metro stop Flaminio on line A. Apartment fully equipped. Antonio was very helpful and checked in with WhatsApp to see how it was going.
What could be improved: The shower head in main bathroom wasn’t attached to a wall so we had to hand hold it. Not a big issue for us but would be good if it was fixed on the wall.Exceptional – Sara from Germany – 30 January 2025 (10/10)
Great accommodation, perfectly comfortable flat in a beautiful authentic building in the center of Rome. Excellent location. Highly recommended.
