Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Top Floor Navona? The name actually makes sense – you’re literally staying on the top floors of this converted building on a tiny side street that most tourists walk right past. Vicolo della Campana is one of those narrow Roman alleys where you can almost touch both walls if you stretch your arms out, and honestly, that’s part of the charm. You’re maybe two minutes from Pantheon crowds but tucked away enough that you won’t hear tour groups at 7 AM.
The location is pretty brilliant, actually. I mean, you’re in the heart of everything – Campo de’ Fiori market is a short walk for morning coffee (skip the hotel breakfast and grab a cornetto from the bakery on Via dei Cappuccini instead), and you can stumble back from dinner in Trastevere without dealing with taxis or late-night metro schedules. The building itself feels authentically Roman – thick walls, those shuttered windows you see in every Italy photo, and a tiny elevator that fits maybe two people plus luggage if you’re friendly with each other. Fair warning though, if you’re staying during August, the top floor thing means it gets warm despite the AC working overtime.
What I really appreciated was how the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood. When I asked about avoiding the Pantheon crowds, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic map – he sketched out this little route through back streets that locals use, past a wine bar that doesn’t even have a sign outside. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star in central Rome: clean, well-maintained, with that mix of modern amenities and old-world details that works when it’s done right. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious for a historic building, and the beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in Rome, honestly). You’ll get some street noise during the day since Romans aren’t exactly quiet, but by 11 PM it’s pretty peaceful. The 8.3 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers on what it promises without any unpleasant surprises.

Would definitely stay again for location alone. – James from Ireland – 18 April 2025 (8/10)
Excellent location, a short walk to most major attractions.

Lovely stay with helpful and patient staff. Extra pillows provided in cupboard which was a nice touch. Sewage smell faintly in bathroom but as expected by previous reviews.
AMAZING location, cute room, friendly and helpful host – perfect for a couple days in Rome. – Balázs from Hungary – 7 March 2025 (8/10)
It has an amazing location and a friendly and helpful host – perfect for a couple of days in Rome. Definitely get the room with the balcony. The room can get quite cold, but there is air conditioning. The bathroom is spacious. Perfect for couples. Next door, there is the oldest restaurant in Europe – give it a try, best Italian meal we have ever had.
What could be improved: The Wi-Fi is slow, which is – although typical in Italy – frustrating if you need to get work done. I can't think of anything else, we were very happy with the room.Perfect for a vacation in the heart of Rome. – Rasztovits from Hungary – 14 January 2025 (8/10)
It was pretty comfortable, close to tourist attractions and was overall a good value for money.
What could be improved: In the wintertime it was cold for us in the appartment, but it wasn’t so bad.Comfortable accomodation in great location – Alena from Czech Republic – 17 October 2024 (8/10)
A comfortable accomodation in the city center, great for two people for a short trip to Rome. The location is perfect as many tourists attractions are in walking distance + there's many restaurants and bars around. Public transport (bus) also nearby. As for the accomodation itself there was nothing to complain about – it was clean, bed is comfortable, some basic amenities were provided (towels, hair dryer, shower gel, shampoo), regular cleaning service. The owner was very kind and provided earlier check-in for us & on the day we checked-out we could leave our luggage at the accomodation and pick it up later.
What could be improved: Nothing in particular – it's no luxury but if you need an accomodation in great location while exploring Rome it's a good choice. Be aware that there is no full-time receptionist, if you want anything you have to communicate with the owner online. It was a good stay in a good area. – Sylvia from Oman – 23 June 2024 (8/10)
The location was perfect for seeing the sights. Lively neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and shops.
What could be improved: There’s a book in the room detailing the area. There’s no reception so no one to ask questions or get suggestions. There were flying ants in the bathroom.Very good location, within walking distance from almost all sites to visit in Rome. – Florin from Italy – 2 April 2024 (8/10)
Location, cozy, balcony, clean .
Superb – Charlotte from United Kingdom – 27 March 2024 (9/10)
Comfortable bed, clean, excellent location.
