The Hoxton, Rome Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into The Hoxton Rome, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s tucked away on Largo Benedetto Marcello in Parioli, which honestly isn’t where most tourists end up (and that’s actually a good thing). The neighborhood feels properly Roman, you know? You’ve got locals walking their dogs, elderly signoras doing their shopping, and none of that tourist chaos you get around the Colosseum. The hotel itself sits in this gorgeous 1930s building that they’ve completely transformed – think original terrazzo floors mixed with these incredibly cozy velvet armchairs that somehow don’t feel stuffy at all.
What really got me was how they’ve nailed that whole “local but not trying too hard” vibe. The lobby doubles as this buzzing coffee spot where you’ll find Romans actually working on their laptops (rare in this city, trust me), and the staff – well, they actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about dinner recommendations, the guy at reception didn’t just rattle off the usual suspects but sent me to this tiny trattoria on Via Panama that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from Hoxton – not huge, but cleverly designed with these custom headboards and proper blackout curtains that actually work. I stayed in one facing the internal courtyard and it was blissfully quiet, though I imagine the street-facing ones might catch some traffic noise during rush hour.
Here’s the thing about this location that most people miss – you’re a quick walk to Villa Borghese (seriously, like 8 minutes), but you’re also perfectly positioned for that whole Parioli shopping strip along Via dei Parioli. Plus, and this is key if you’re planning to explore beyond central Rome, you’re super close to the Policlinico metro stop on Line B. I mean, sure, you could stay in Trastevere or near the Spanish Steps like everyone else, but then you’d miss out on actually feeling like you’re living in Rome rather than just visiting it. The breakfast here is solid – not revolutionary, but they do this thing with their pastries where they source them from a local bakery, and you can taste the difference. Oh, and if you’re traveling in summer, the internal courtyard gets this lovely evening light that makes for perfect aperitivo conditions. Just don’t expect a pool or gym – this is urban Rome, not a resort.

The property was very clean. The ambience was also very lively and comfortable, because they had a bar and lounge at the entrance. The ala carte breakfast was good, top notch quality, and we could freely order including fresh pressed juice and great coffee.
