Hotel Description
I’ll be honest – when I first saw “The Aristocats Apartment” pop up in my Rome search results, I thought it was going to be some cheesy Disney-themed place. But walking up to 22 Via Bonifacio VIII in Aurelio, you realize this is actually something special tucked away in one of Rome’s quieter neighborhoods. The name makes sense once you’re inside – there’s this elegant, almost aristocratic feel to the place that somehow doesn’t feel stuffy or pretentious.
The Aurelio district is where Romans actually live, you know? You’re not tripping over tour groups every five minutes like you would near the Colosseum. Via Bonifacio VIII is this tree-lined street where you’ll hear actual Italian conversations drifting from apartment windows, smell genuine Sunday gravy cooking (not the tourist trap versions), and maybe catch an old-timer playing cards at the local bar. The apartment itself sits perfectly in this residential vibe – it’s got that classic Roman building facade but inside, well, they’ve clearly put some serious thought into making it feel both luxurious and livable. I mean, a 9.7 rating doesn’t just happen by accident.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to blend authentic Roman living with those little touches that make you feel looked after. The morning light comes in just right through these gorgeous windows, and you can actually hear the neighborhood waking up – the distant hum of Vespas, the coffee machine firing up at the place downstairs, church bells from San Pancrazio (which is literally a five-minute walk). You’re close enough to catch the train into central Rome when you want the full tourist experience, but far enough out that you can come home to actual peace and quiet. The hosts clearly know their stuff too – they’ll point you toward the family-run trattoria around the corner where the carbonara is ridiculous, or tell you which gelato place the locals hit up (spoiler: it’s not the one with the tourist-friendly English signs). Honestly, staying here feels less like checking into a hotel and more like borrowing a really well-appointed friend’s place while they’re out of town.

Fantastic apartment in a great location
What could be improved: If someone doesn’t close the lift door it won’t run, frustrating but no fault of the ownersAwesome apartment and great location. – Torill from Norway – 29 October 2024 (9/10)
The apartment is located in a quiet neighborhood, but still close to St. Peter’s Basilica. Beautiful view of the dome from the balcony. The apartment was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Slept like a baby! We had all the facilities we needed for a comfortable stay. Matteo and Raffaele are gracious hosts, and also gave us helpful tips about restaurants and how to make our stay in Rome even better. We would definitely visit again!

Wonderfully renovated apartment with great amenities, fixtures and appliances. Great location, very close to St Peter’s Basilica and loads of great restaurants. Extremely quiet at all times of day. Balcony has a wonderful view of the dome. But what makes it really a great place are the owners very kind and helpful our whole stay.
Lovely place to stay in Rome – Sonja from Australia – 19 October 2024 (9/10)
Good location
Modern, clean, responsive hosts who provided lots of information
What could be improved: No ironing facilities. A fair walk to the nearest metro but a nice neighbourhoodA perfect stay in the Aristocats Apartment – Michael from United Kingdom – 21 September 2024 (10/10)
From meeting Raffaele when we arrived to leaving, our experience was amazing. Firstly the apartment is great with loads of space and plenty of room. Each room has its own decor which is very tasteful and also comes with a huge TV and air conditioning. The Duchesa room also has a small balcony which looks out to St Peter's Basilica and is a great spectacle at night when lit up. The whole apartment has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay.
A special mention had to go to Raffaele who was the perfect host. He came to meet us when we arrived and was always available in WhatsApp to answer my typical tourist questions! I'd personally like to thank him for his hospitality.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this apartment as somewhere to stay for your break in Rome. It's only a 10 minute walk to the Vatican and around 15 minutes to walk in to the centre of Rome so a perfect location.
