Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Suite Rondanini? The address alone tells you everything – you’re literally staying on a piazza that most tourists walk right past on their way to the Pantheon, which is honestly perfect because you get all the historic atmosphere without the crowds camping outside your door. I mean, we’re talking maybe a three-minute walk to one of Rome’s most famous monuments, but the square itself has this quiet, almost residential feel that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto some local secret. The building itself is one of those classic Roman palazzos that’s been converted into a boutique hotel, and they’ve done it right – kept all the original character (think high ceilings and marble details) while actually making the rooms functional for modern travelers.

The suites are genuinely spacious by Rome standards, which anyone who’s stayed in the centro storico will appreciate. What I loved was how they’ve managed to soundproof the rooms pretty well – you can hear the occasional scooter or late-night conversation drifting up from the piazza, but it’s more charming than disruptive. The staff clearly knows their stuff about the neighborhood too. Instead of just handing you a generic tourist map, they’ll tell you which entrance to use for the Pantheon when it’s busy, or point you toward that little wine bar on Via dei Pastini that doesn’t look like much from the outside but serves incredible cacio e pepe. Check-in was smooth, no drama with the key cards, and they actually helped arrange airport transfers without trying to upsell us on some overpriced service.

Here’s the thing about staying right in the Pantheon area – you’re walking distance to basically everywhere you want to be, but you’re also dealing with the reality of ancient Roman streets, which means no parking anywhere nearby and plenty of cobblestones to navigate with your luggage. The 8.4 rating feels about right to me; it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury amenities, but it delivers exactly what you want from a Roman hotel experience. The location is genuinely special – I’d wake up and grab coffee at the Sant’Eustachio just around the corner, spend the day exploring, then come back to decompress before heading out for dinner. You’re close enough to Trastevere for evening meals but far enough from the main tourist drags that you can actually enjoy a quiet morning on the piazza with your espresso. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re living in Rome rather than just visiting it, this place gets it right.

Reviews

  • Amazing stay, perfectly positioned, recommended for anyone. – Stephen from Australia – 4 June 2025 (9/10)

Loved the combination of old and new.
The property was perfectly positioned for a walk around the sights of Rome and close to so many trattorias.

What could be improved: Was very warm during our stay, which is not under the control of our host, and the air con in the lounge was struggling to cope with the heat.

  • We always make the best of the situation! Although bathrooms not accessible the apartment was great! – Andy from United Kingdom – 19 February 2025 (8/10)

The flat was stunning and Alice could not have been more helpful. A wonderful host! The apartment was warm and cozy, TV's in every room, beds super comfy! Limited supplies of tea/coffee etc left in there but there is a shop right next door, It's an Air B&B not a hotel remember! Rubbish is really well recycled so my tip would be to take rubbish down daily so you don't have to sort it all in one big lump. The apartment is pretty much in the centre of everything. None of the major sites were more than 30 mins walk away and the piazza is near to the main road (no cobbles as a path) There wer loads of guides and books inside to help you plan your trip and there was even a drawer full of chargers in case you had forgotten yours. My only suggestion to make things better would to have a supply of city maps that people could take out with them. I would happily return to this apartment and Alice really helped make it a wonderful trip!

What could be improved: The apartment is described as 'accessible'. It is not! Although there is a lift and level entrances, none of the bathrooms could be easily accessed. You cannot be alone to enter as both doors need unbolting to gain access. Wheelchairs will not fit through the doors to get to any of the bathing facilities. Single toilet – sink in the way to get to toilet. Shower room – door to narrow to get in and does not lock. Bathroom – not enough space to turn chair in and step to access. I had to brush my teeth etc in the kitchen sink. If you have some mobility or upper body strength then you can adapt and manage. As a T6 Para I managed well enough. It's an ancient city, accessibility will always be hit and miss. The 'Tourist Tax' could have been mentioned sooner in the booking process. We paid 6 Euro's per head, per night. Most Cities have them now so not unexpected but knowing beforehand would've allowed us to have the cash ready in what is today, a cashless world.

  • All in all it was a good a very good stay – Ylenia from Malta – 13 February 2025 (8/10)

The location! Location was perfect and very comfortable beds

What could be improved: The door lock it was not very user friendly

  • Charming and central – Nadia from Canada – 26 September 2024 (9/10)

    Location and size

What could be improved: We had difficulty with openning the door

  • Superb – Nicola from Ireland – 16 September 2024 (9/10)

Location is absolutely superb. Apartment is spotless and has everything you need. Alice was very helpful and gave us all the details in advance. Would highly recommend this apartment 😁

  • Superb – Sanita from Latvia – 23 November 2023 (9/10)

    Location is great, huge appartment!

  • Exellent, I will recomend on this to others. – Sharon from Israel – 10 July 2023 (9/10)

We met the host at the property. Got expelenations.
    elevator, comfort. Location.

What could be improved: 2nd floor stairs are shaking.

  • Location, space, cleanliness, hosts all 5 star — we would definitely stay there again. – Katherine from United States – 8 June 2023 (9/10)

The apartment location was excellent. Located between Piazza Navona and the Pantheon it was so easy to walk to either. There was also a large grocery store just behind the apartment building and of course lots of food places.
We were 6 adults (3 couples) and we really appreciated all the space — it is unusual to find an apartment with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (2 full baths and one toilet). We also appreciated that the apartment was located close to a quiet intersection (next to the toy store on the corner) where it was very easy to find a taxi. We really appreciated the washing machine and ample drying racks. The kitchen was well-stocked with pans and utensils enough for us to make toast and eggs for breakfast. I have mobility issues and appreciated the lift. They also provided bathrobes for everyone which was appreciated.

What could be improved: It was a little noisy into the night but not really more than I expect being in the middle of such a popular location.
One of the beds downstairs was concave in the middle so you tended to roll to the middle. One bathroom has a shower only and the shower was very small so we found it easier to shower in the other bathroom where there was a tub with a hand shower.

  • Fantastic stay in Rome – Marbeth from United Kingdom – 1 March 2023 (9/10)

Location was very central. Alice was a great host and we were able to drop off our luggage as we had arrived early in the day.
