Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Suite Artis Barberini, I wasn’t expecting much from the lobby. It’s sort of tucked into this corner of Piazza Barberini, and from the outside it looks like just another Roman building. But once you get upstairs, you realize they’ve actually done something pretty clever with the space. The suites (and they really are suites, not just rooms with a sitting area) have this contemporary design that somehow doesn’t feel cold or sterile. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Trevi Fountain – like, genuinely a five-minute walk – but the place manages to feel removed from all that tourist chaos.

What really got me was the attention to detail in the rooms. The kitchenettes are actually functional, not just decorative (I made coffee every morning and it didn’t feel like camping), and the bathrooms have proper counter space where you can spread out your stuff. You know what’s rare in Rome? Hotels where you can actually open your suitcase without having to put it on the bed. Here, there’s room to breathe. The neighborhood itself is fascinating – Via Veneto has this old Hollywood glamour thing going on, but honestly, it’s the side streets that are more interesting. There’s this tiny alimentari around the corner where the owner will slice prosciutto paper-thin and tell you about his grandmother’s recipe for cacio e pepe. The Metro stop (Barberini) is right there, which sounds convenient until you realize the escalators are broken half the time – but hey, welcome to Rome.

The staff really knows their stuff about the area, and I don’t mean they just hand you a tourist map. When I asked about avoiding crowds at the Spanish Steps, the guy at the front desk told me exactly which streets to take for the best approach (spoiler: go early, like 7 AM early). The 8.3 rating makes sense – it’s not perfect, the street can get noisy during the day with all the traffic around the piazza, and the Wi-Fi gets spotty on the upper floors. But there’s something about staying in a place that feels like it belongs in its neighborhood rather than fighting against it. The building has character, you can hear the fountain outside at night, and you’re genuinely living in Rome rather than just visiting it. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the elevator is reliable – which matters more than you’d think when you’re hauling luggage up and down multiple times a day.

The location was great. We had many attractions to visit withis walking distance.

  • Great place , great location – Mindaugas from Lithuania – 26 January 2025 (9/10)

Location of the property is just perfect 5 min walk to Trevi fountain

What could be improved: Is a bit small , but if you staying in Rome and travel around you just need the little place to sleep

  • Perfect location, simple but clean room – Laura from Netherlands – 12 January 2025 (9/10)

Great location and clean room. Perfect for a short stay!

What could be improved: Bring earplugs if you can’t handle noise from the street.

  • Charming little place close to some of Romes main attractions – Alida from Australia – 5 October 2024 (9/10)

Location was close to anywhere we wanted you to go with ease lots of eateries and shops close by. Could walk the Trevi fountain easily.

What could be improved: Sometimes at night the piazza was a little noisy with revellers

  • Great location, good host, value for money but need to be fit and strong to lug heavy bags up 3 full flights – Michael from New Zealand – 2 October 2024 (7/10)

    – reasonable size , tiled floor, minimalist furnishings. Great location, friendly helpful staff, good communication. Aircon works well.

What could be improved: With windows open lot of traffic noise, no elevator, slog up 3 flights of stairs carrying heavy bag maybe too much for some.

  • Great Location and Great AC – Claudia from United States – 13 September 2024 (9/10)

Great location. 2 mins from a subway stop and you can walk to many tourist spots and restaurants in 20 mins or less. We took the subway to the Metro station and to Vatican City and it worked out well. AC was nice and strong and despite being in a busy area it wasn’t too loud.

What could be improved: There is no reception staff. We didn’t mind just note it isn’t a regular hotel. More like an Airbnb. However, they do clean your room everyday.

  • Excellent location, would go back – Amanda from Ireland – 14 August 2024 (8/10)

Brilliant location, friendly staff. Good few restaurants near. Easy to get the to metro to the airport

What could be improved: No lift, 84 steps up to the room. I didn't mind the exercise, but if your not fit don't book this place.

  • Great stay in great location. Lots of stairs which we took as a challenge. – Matthew from Malta – 4 August 2024 (9/10)

The location and the room on two different levels

What could be improved: Air conditioning could have been more powerful
