Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Stefano House? The moment you step inside, you completely forget you’re basically on top of one of Rome’s most touristy spots. I mean, Via degli Avignonesi is literally a two-minute walk from the Trevi Fountain – I timed it because I’m weird like that – but somehow this little apartment feels like you’ve discovered some hidden Roman sanctuary.
The building itself has that authentic Roman character that you can’t fake, with thick walls that actually keep the street noise down (honestly, I was expecting way more chaos given how close you are to the fountain). The apartment is surprisingly spacious for Rome standards, and I loved how they’ve managed to blend modern comfort with those classic Italian touches – the kind of place where you’ll find yourself making coffee in the morning and feeling like you actually live in Rome, not just visiting. The 4-star rating feels about right, though honestly, the location alone bumps it up in my book. There’s something pretty magical about being able to pop down to the Trevi Fountain for sunrise photos before the crowds hit, then retreat back to your quiet space.
What really sold me on this place was the neighborhood knowledge you pick up just by staying here. You’re right in the heart of Trevi, which means you’re walking distance from Campo Marzio for shopping, and – here’s the local tip – there’s this incredible little restaurant called Il Chianti just around the corner that most tourists never find because they’re too busy fighting for fountain photos. The metro situation is decent too; Barberini station is close enough, though honestly, you’ll probably end up walking everywhere because Rome’s historic center is surprisingly compact. Stefano clearly knows what he’s doing with this place – the 9.2 rating doesn’t surprise me at all. It’s one of those spots where you feel like you’re getting insider access to Rome rather than just another tourist accommodation. The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re planning to be out super late, the building entrance can be a bit tricky to navigate in the dark, but that’s pretty standard for these historic Roman buildings. Overall, if you want to be in the absolute heart of things but still have a peaceful retreat to come back to, this place nails that balance perfectly.

Beautifully clean, comfortable and exceptionally well located.
Totally recommended. Excellent ubicated – Maria from Chile – 2 June 2025 (10/10)
Great location. Very, very clean. Very comfortable beds for all 4. Impeccable towels and sheets. Air conditioning in each room, which is very appreciated for the heat. It includes everything it offers. The best thing is the attention of the hosts. Arriving you find the door with the number 20 on the Avignonesi road. There's no hotel name, but that's it. You communicate on WhatsApp and quickly someone very kind comes to receive you. I totally recommend it.
What could be improved: Nothing to say. Everithing was excellentStefanoHouse 5 Night Stay May 2025 – George from United States – 24 May 2025 (9/10)
Location was awesome and made the stay very amenable. Place was very clean. Hosts were very friendly, they even provided bottle of wine, flowers and candy 1 day which was my birthday. Apartment was quiet from the surroundings even in the middle of the Rome city. Breakfast and dinner restaurants were very close and convenient to support our vacation travels each day. Important sites were within walking distance and metro, Barberini, was 4 minute walk, The ride back to airport was on time, very reasonable and driver pleasant.
What could be improved: Two of the air conditioners had stopped cooling enough after we got there and reported to host, who contacted technician and identified need to replace a part. Weather was somewhat warner in May than usual.Exceptional – Caroline from United Kingdom – 2 May 2025 (10/10)
The apartment has everything a family needs for a stay in Rome.
The apartment is very well situated to all of the main attractions and all within walking distance.
Marga the owner was very helpful and fully available if we needed any help which made us feel safe.
The apartment is on a small street behind a main road. There were plenty of restaurants on and around this street. We used Whites restaurant for breakfast and That's Amorea for our evening meal. This restaurant was very good serving fresh pasta and seafood as well as the usual pizzas and quite reasonably priced.
What could be improved: There was nothing we didn't likeGreat apartment, amazing location – Leon from Israel – 11 April 2025 (9/10)
Good and well equipped apartment in the geat location. Beside a few minor thing that need to be addressed all the rest was perfect. Great value for money
Exceptional – Momcilo from Serbia – 28 March 2025 (10/10)
Location is excellent and apartment is really spacious and comfy. They even let us leave our bags in a storage room on our last day so that we can enjoy it without carrying them everywhere.
Great location and apartment, would definitely stay again. – Megan from Ireland – 6 December 2024 (9/10)
Great location, very helpful hosts, exactly what we were expecting. Quiet, first floor, didn't hear much going on on the street below. Elevator/Lift if you need it.
Exceptional – Jade from Australia – 16 September 2024 (10/10)
Beautiful, extremely spacious and modern with old Roman charm. Great location, really central but also on a quiet street. Would stay again… and again… and again!!!!
Culture and Relaxation – Billie from United Kingdom – 22 August 2024 (9/10)
It’s location to shops and sights.
What could be improved: AC in master bedroom needs maintenance, was not cold enough and kept going into error mode. A little uncomfortable at night especially when Italy has been experiencing high temperatures.Nice place – Mary from United States – 15 June 2024 (9/10)
We were able to walk to restaurants and taxi service. Great facilities. Bed were comfortable.
What could be improved: Was a short overnight stay so not much to complain about.
