Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about St Peter’s View? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet side street – Via di Porta Cavalleggeri – that most tourists never even notice, but you’re literally a five-minute walk from St. Peter’s Basilica. I mean, the name isn’t kidding around here. When I opened the curtains on the third floor, there it was: that iconic dome just sitting there like it owned the place (which, let’s be honest, it kind of does).
The thing about staying in Aurelio is that you get this weird mix of residential Rome and tourist central. In the morning, you’ll hear locals chatting at the café downstairs, but by 9 AM there’s this steady stream of pilgrims and sightseers heading toward the Vatican. The hotel itself feels more like a well-run boutique place than your typical Roman four-star – the lobby’s got this warm, lived-in feeling with dark wood and soft lighting that doesn’t scream “tourist trap.” Check-in was surprisingly smooth, actually. The guy at the desk spoke perfect English but also gave me directions in that casual Italian way, pointing out the good gelato spot around the corner and warning me about the crowds at the Sistine Chapel after 2 PM.
Here’s what I really appreciated: the rooms are genuinely quiet, which is no small feat in Rome. You’re far enough from the main tourist chaos but close enough that you can walk to everything that matters. The beds are properly comfortable – not those rock-hard European mattresses that leave you feeling like you wrestled with gladiators all night. And honestly, the shower pressure was better than my apartment back home. The neighborhood gets this lovely golden light in the evenings when everyone’s heading home from work, and there’s this little trattoria two blocks down where the locals actually eat (you can tell because there’s no English menu posted outside). Parking can be a bit of a nightmare if you’re driving – I’d honestly just take the train from the airport and walk everywhere from here. The whole area comes alive around aperitivo time, and you get this authentic Roman evening vibe that you just can’t find near the Colosseum or Spanish Steps where everything’s geared toward tourists taking selfies.

Excellent location overlooking St. Peter's Cathedral. In front of the house bus stop (nr 982 Museo Etrusco, nr 916 and nr 46 Piazza Venezia, and many others). In the street several small shops, about 500 m Carefour. Nearest metro station Ottaviano approx. 1 km. Journey to the airport Ciampino from metro station Ottaviano to Cinecitta + bus nr 520 approx. 50 min.

Exceptional prime location, it’s walkable distance from St Peters Basilica. We could be in the church whenever we want to go, and early so could avoid big queues . Secondly Luca allowed us for late Check-in and check out, as we arrived pretty late in night . The procedure was very straightforward and contactless . It was much helpful. Third we could easily catch a bus or train as the bus stop is just in front and railway station less than 500 meters. So travel to other parts of the city and the airport was very convenient.
