Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Rome, and honestly, most “suite hotels” near the Spanish Steps are either tiny rooms with delusions of grandeur or overpriced tourist traps. Splendor Suite Rome actually gets it right – and I mean that in the best possible way. The location on Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina is one of those spots that makes you feel like you stumbled onto something locals don’t want tourists to know about. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Via del Corso (perfect for that inevitable shopping damage), but the piazza itself stays surprisingly quiet, especially in the evenings when the little church bells chime and you can actually hear yourself think.

The suites themselves are what sold me – they’re not just hotel rooms with a kitchenette shoved in the corner. I mean, you’ve got proper living spaces here, which is clutch if you’re staying more than a couple nights or traveling with family. The apartments feel lived-in rather than sterile, if that makes sense. During my stay, I noticed they’d clearly put thought into the details that matter: good water pressure (seriously underrated in Rome), decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and – this might sound weird – but the windows actually block out street noise. That’s huge when you’re sleeping above Italian streets where scooters apparently never sleep. The staff runs a tight ship without being stuffy about it. Check-in was smooth, they knew the neighborhood inside and out (asked them about parking and got three different options within two blocks), and when I had issues with the air conditioning, someone was up within twenty minutes.

What really sets this place apart is how it sits in the neighborhood. You know that touristy chaos around the Spanish Steps? You’re close enough to walk there in under ten minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with crowds of people taking selfies outside your window at 7 AM. The morning routine became grabbing coffee at the little bar on the corner (locals actually drink there, which is always a good sign), then wandering toward the Pantheon – another five-minute walk – before the tour groups descended. Evenings, you’ve got some genuinely good restaurants within stumbling distance, including this place on Via di Campo Marzio that does amazing cacio e pepe. The 8.5 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it delivers on the stuff that actually matters when you’re trying to experience Rome rather than just survive it. If you want to feel like you’re staying in the city rather than a tourist bubble, and you appreciate having space to spread out after long days of walking on cobblestones, this place gets it right.

Reviews

  • Great location, lovely view of the plazza – Helene from Switzerland – 29 April 2025 (7/10)

Very central. Close to everything you want to see

What could be improved: Can be noisy early morning. But it’s what it takes to be located in the center

  • Great choice – Olivia from Canada – 20 March 2025 (10/10)

Lovely room in the heart of Rome
Excellent location – many attractions are walking distance
Near many shops and restaurants as well
Very friendly and helpful staff as well

  • A fabulous and memorable stay. – Paul from Australia – 7 February 2025 (10/10)

The location was perfect. It was walking distance to all major cultural attractions such as the Trevi fountain, the Spanish steps, the colosseum and the Vatican along with many historical buildings.
The staff were helpful and made us feel at home. Restaurants and cafes were close by and a variety of shopping was close at hand.

What could be improved: Provide clearer instructions upon arrival as we were unsure how to access the reception. An intercom system may be helpful to assist customers upon arrival.

  • Fantastic location, great rooms. Highly recommended. – Sharon from Brunei Darussalam – 20 January 2025 (10/10)

Great location, we were right in the centre of the city. We were within walking distance to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps and the shops. Our location was very walkable, and there were pharmacies and convenience stores within reach. The hotel's breakfast is at the main restaurant downstairs and it served a wide variety of food throughout the day. The square downstairs has a few restaurants where you could end your day before heading upstairs to the hotel. Hot drinks are readily available at a small common area in the hotel and bottled water is available as well. Room was very comfortable, it is a very decent size for a family of four. There was also adequate storage cabinets and drawers to store our belongings. Staff were extremely responsive after we had messaged them with some enquiries, even after hours. Wifi was available and it was very easy to get a taxi to anywhere from the reception. Very happy here, will recommend.

What could be improved: We arrived at night and there was no staff present so did not know how to get to our hotel (which was on the 4th floor). The lift was inaccessible because we had no communication with the staff in advance. But everything was promptly sorted out once we touched base with them. Lift was a bit of a tight space as well, but we were not too bothered by it.

  • Good location with friendly owners and staff. – Olivia from Philippines – 10 November 2024 (9/10)

    Very near strategic spots

What could be improved: Small elevator but managed anyway

  • Very good – Hildie from Australia – 13 October 2024 (8/10)

Convenient location within walking distance to all major Rome attractions.

  • This is a trip everyone should take. – Patel from United States – 21 September 2024 (10/10)

Amazing location in the heart of the city

What could be improved: Air conditioning was a little hard to work out

  • If you want a stylish, spacious and central hotel, Splendor Suites is the one for you. – Paige from United Kingdom – 30 August 2024 (10/10)

The hotel was very stylish and had great facilities! The staff were friendly and helpful. Location is excellent (right near the Trevi, Spanish steps, Pantenon and lots of lovely shops and restaurants). I was very happy with our stay at Splendor Suite Rome and would highly recommend!

    What could be improved: N/A

  • Absolut brilliant place! – Nikolas from Hong Kong – 15 July 2024 (10/10)

We loved everything and can’t wait to be back!

  • Very good – Amie from Australia – 27 May 2024 (8/10)

Great staff, incredible location, clean rooms, and comfortably spacious. We didn't have to get one taxi to any attractions. Very nice room and exactly like the photos. As you are in the heart of the tourist district, all the restaurants are a little pricey, but that is to be expected.

What could be improved: Shower head was only 5ft tall, no iron.
