Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Splendid Apartment Trastevere” on the booking site, I was a bit confused because it’s actually located on Via dei Pettinari, which is smack in the middle of the historic center near Campo de’ Fiori, not in Trastevere at all. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come from these little mix-ups, and this place turned out to be absolutely perfect.
The location is actually incredible – I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Pantheon and maybe five minutes from Piazza Navona, but somehow you’re tucked away on this quiet cobblestone street that feels worlds away from the tourist chaos. Via dei Pettinari has this authentic Roman vibe where you’ll see locals walking their dogs in the morning and the occasional nonna heading to the market with her wheeled cart. The building itself has that classic Roman elegance – thick stone walls that keep everything cool even in August, and these gorgeous high ceilings that make you feel like you’re staying in someone’s centuries-old family apartment (in the best way possible).
What really impressed me was how thoughtfully everything was set up. The apartment – and it really does feel like a proper apartment, not a hotel room – has this lived-in comfort that’s hard to find in Rome’s city center. The kitchen actually works if you want to grab some ingredients from the Campo de’ Fiori market (which gets going around 7 AM, by the way, so you’ll hear the vendors setting up if you’re a light sleeper). The bathroom has one of those rainfall showers that actually has decent water pressure, which honestly shouldn’t be remarkable but somehow is in historic Roman buildings. And the Wi-Fi? Actually reliable, which I learned not to take for granted after a few other stays in the area.
The best part about this spot is how it puts you right in the rhythm of Roman life. You’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters – the Vatican’s about a 15-minute stroll across the river, the Colosseum’s maybe 20 minutes through some gorgeous neighborhoods – but you’re also in this pocket where locals actually live and work. There’s this tiny alimentari around the corner where the owner started recognizing me after three days, and the little trattoria two doors down (can’t remember the name, but it has the red awning) serves the kind of cacio e pepe that Romans actually eat, not the tourist version.
I should mention that the stairs are narrow and steep – typical for these old buildings – so if you’re traveling with heavy luggage, just mentally prepare for that. And while the neighborhood gets pretty quiet at night, you will hear the occasional late-night reveler wandering back from Trastevere proper, but honestly, it’s more charming than disruptive. The whole area has this wonderful energy where history and daily life just seamlessly blend together, and staying here made me feel less like a tourist and more like a temporary Roman – which, let’s be real, is exactly what you want when you’re in a city like this.

Perfect stay! – Leticia from United States – 10 June 2025 (10/10)
The property was just as it looks in the photos – absolutely beautiful & clean with modern finishes. It was also in the perfect location with many shops and restaurants just a few minutes walk away.
Perfect and excellent. – Elizabeth from Canada – 7 June 2025 (10/10)
The location was perfect—just a short walk from restaurants and local attractions. Clorinda greeted us at the entrance and handed over the keys, providing clear and helpful instructions. The staff were warm, friendly, and very accommodating. The apartment itself was spacious and spotless. It looks exactly like it does in the photos.
Special thanks to Sono Lo, who went above and beyond to help us, especially with our last-minute airport shuttle request. My friends and I truly appreciate the excellent service provided by the host and staff. 😊
What could be improved: Can’t complain.Superb – Ioannis from Greece – 21 May 2025 (9/10)
The beds were comfy and more than enough for 10-11 people.
What could be improved: Maybe only the thing that the windows are old and the sounds from outside when they clean the roads are a little bit disturbing, but I get it's an old building and they have to follow guidelines.Great apartment with excellent location! – Aris from United States – 29 April 2025 (9/10)
Location was great. The apartment had lots of space.
What could be improved: Make note that you would need to get your own shampoo and soap, but there’s stores nearby.Exceptional – Shahed from Hungary – 4 April 2025 (10/10)
The location is perfect , many caffes and restaurants around.
The apartment is big, excellent to group
And great stuffWill come back to Rome and consider the place next visit – Maik from Malaysia – 24 December 2024 (10/10)
A very large house, able to accommodate my family from Malaysia. Very close to interesting places around Rome. The accommodation area is very close to the ZTL area. Be careful. Parking is also nearby, namely Parking Van Guilia as recommended by the apartment staff Ms Marilu. She is very tolerant and patient. Overall very satisfied.
What could be improved: There is no microwave. When using the oven there will be electrical interference but a manual has been prepared to overcome the problem.Very comfortable – Riya from Netherlands – 9 August 2024 (10/10)
The apartment is very spacious and looks just like the picture. It is also near the landmarks, everything is on the walking distance.
The staffs were very helpful, they provided us every information we needed.
What could be improved: One of the room doesn’t have a door and the bathroom door doesn’t have lock but it can be closed. It wasn’t a big deal and was manageable.Lovely staff, great location, but not a great apartment. – Susan from United States – 29 November 2024 (6/10)
The location was good. The staff was absolutely wonderful.
What could be improved: The lights were very difficult to operate, the beds were very uncomfortable, the neighbors put a sign on our door about being too loud when we were just chatting in the living room at 7:00 at night, there was no drying rack for the clothes, the layout is very strange because the sofa is in the kitchen and the living room has two large beds and a dining table in it, there was no dish soap and no plates despite having plenty of pots and pans to cook. Also the hot water for the shower is completely random. One shower will be great and the one you take the next day may be ice cold.C’était top ! – Kelly from France – 22 June 2025 (10/10)
