Seven Kings Relais Overview
You know what struck me first about Seven Kings Relais? It’s tucked away on Via Venti Settembre in this wonderfully Roman way where you almost walk past it, then realize you’ve found something pretty special. I mean, the street itself is one of those classic Roman thoroughfares that actually goes somewhere – you’re genuinely in the heart of things here, not stuck in some tourist bubble. The Quirinale Palace is basically around the corner, and honestly, I loved being able to walk to the Trevi Fountain in about ten minutes without fighting through the main tourist drags.
The hotel itself has this sort of understated elegance that works really well – it’s a solid 3-star that doesn’t try to be something it’s not, but definitely punches above its weight in terms of charm. The lobby has these beautiful high ceilings (very Roman palazzo vibes) and the staff actually remembers your name after day one, which is refreshing. My room was compact but thoughtfully designed – I mean, this is Rome, so you’re not expecting a massive space anyway. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re on a fairly busy street. The windows are good quality, and the courtyard-facing rooms are particularly peaceful if you’re a light sleeper.
The breakfast situation is actually quite nice – they do this proper Italian spread with excellent coffee (obviously) and fresh pastries from a local bakery. The dining room gets great morning light, and there’s something civilized about starting your day there before heading out to tackle the Colosseum crowds. Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned between Termini and the historic center, which means you can easily hop on the metro or just walk everywhere. The Via del Tritone is right there for shopping, and if you head down toward Via del Corso, you’ll hit all the main sights without that exhausting trek from the outskirts. Parking is typically Roman (meaning challenging), but they can arrange something if you’re driving – though honestly, you won’t need a car from here. The 7.7 rating makes sense to me; it’s not going to blow you away with luxury, but it delivers exactly what you want from a Roman stay: comfort, character, and a location that lets you live like a local for a few days.
