Secret Rhome Overview
You know what struck me first about Secret Rhome? The name actually makes sense once you find it – and I mean *find* it, because this place is tucked away like someone’s best-kept secret in one of Rome’s most incredible neighborhoods. I’m talking about being a two-minute walk from the Pantheon, which honestly still gives me chills every time I see it. The hotel sits on Largo dei Fiorentini, and while that might not mean much to first-time visitors, anyone who’s wandered Rome knows this puts you right in the sweet spot between the chaos of tourist central and the authentic Roman streets where locals actually live.
The building itself has that slightly worn Italian charm – you’re climbing stairs in what feels like a converted apartment building, which it probably was. Don’t expect a fancy lobby with marble floors; this is more like staying at a sophisticated friend’s place in the city. The rooms are clean and thoughtfully designed, though honestly, you’re not coming here for the thread count. What you’re paying for is location, location, location. I mean, you can literally roll out of bed and grab a proper Roman coffee at one of those tiny bars where the barista knows everyone’s order by heart. And speaking of coffee – there’s this little place around the corner on Via dei Cappuccini that serves the kind of espresso that ruins Starbucks for you forever.
The 3-star rating is spot-on because they’re not pretending to be something they’re not. The staff actually knows the neighborhood and will point you toward the good stuff – like which trattoria doesn’t just serve reheated tourist food and where to find the best gelato (spoiler: it’s not the place with the most colorful display). What really sold me was realizing I could walk to Trastevere for dinner, wander back through the Jewish Quarter, and still be home in fifteen minutes. The noise level is surprisingly manageable too, considering you’re in the heart of Rome – though if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs because this is still a living, breathing city center. The whole experience feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find in Rome these days, where so many places cater to Instagram rather than actual travelers who want to feel like they’re living in the city, not just photographing it.

The location was great, within walking distance to all the major attractions. The host communicated very clear instructions when we arrived. She was polite and friendly.

The hotel has an amazing location. We walked everywhere even though we had a stroller and a 7 months old baby.
There is no reception at night. But you receive a WhatsApp message on how to get to your room and a code number to open the main door into the hotel. The contact was very fast and immediate.
What could be improved: No breakfast. But you find many cafes and restaurants on the way outside.Superb – David from United States – 19 July 2023 (9/10)
