Hotel Description
You know what’s funny about Sant’Angelo-Rental? The name makes it sound like some generic rental place, but honestly, this is one of those hidden gems that Rome does so well – tucked away on Via Paola where you’d walk right past it if you didn’t know what to look for. I mean, we’re talking about a proper 4-star spot that feels way more intimate than those massive hotels near the Colosseum. The building itself has that weathered Roman charm – you can tell it’s been here forever, with those thick stone walls that actually keep the place cool in summer (trust me, you’ll appreciate this when it’s 35°C outside).
The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Rome rather than just visiting it. Via Paola is this quiet little street that connects to the Navona area, so you’re literally a three-minute walk from Piazza Navona but without all the tourist chaos right outside your window. I actually love how you can slip out in the early morning – maybe 7 AM – and have the piazza almost to yourself before the crowds descend. Plus, you’re close enough to hear the fountain at night if you open your windows, which sounds romantic until you realize Romans are still out socializing until 2 AM (not complaining, just saying bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper). The neighborhood has this residential feel where you’ll see locals doing their shopping at the small alimentari on the corner, and there’s this fantastic little caffè – I think it’s called Bar Navona – where the barista actually remembers your order after two days.
What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail that you only notice after staying in a lot of Roman hotels. The rooms have these beautiful original ceiling beams, and the bathrooms are actually spacious – which, if you’ve stayed in Rome before, you know is practically a miracle. The staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you’re sorted, not just going through the motions. They’ll give you real recommendations too, like suggesting you skip the touristy restaurants around Pantheon and head to Armando al Pantheon instead (which has been family-run since 1961, by the way). The Wi-Fi actually works consistently, the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, and honestly, for a 4-star place in this location, the value is pretty incredible. I’ve stayed at places charging twice as much that don’t come close to this level of comfort. It’s the kind of spot where you’ll find yourself planning your next Rome trip before you’ve even left – and that 9-star rating from other guests? Yeah, that makes complete sense once you’ve been there.

Perfect apartment, perfect location. – Christiene from Australia – 9 February 2025 (10/10)
We really loved everything about the apartment.. the location was perfect – easy walk to all locations around Rome.
Our hosts were super responsive any very accommodating. We were thoroughly pleased with the apartment. – Jaw2017 from Poland – 30 January 2025 (10/10)
I arrived with my husband and two kids. From the beginning of my booking, I had contact with Weronika (likely the person responsible for the apartment). One day before our arrival, I confirmed the time, and Weronika informed me who would meet us near the apartment—it was Alessandro. Both Weronika and Alessandro were extremely competent and helpful. Alessandro showed us all the details of how to enter the apartment and how everything works inside. He also provided contacts for us to call in case of an emergency, day or night. Their professionalism was outstanding. We really liked the apartment; it was clean and comfortable. It included all the necessary accessories in the kitchen, bathroom, and rooms. Located on the second floor with a lift, the apartment is in the very heart of Rome, close to everything. We loved the place and will definitely be back. Thank you!
What could be improved: We liked everything.Wonderful updated apartment and close to all the main attractions including restaurants – Amy from United States – 11 January 2025 (10/10)
This apartment was in an excellent location. Walking distance to everything including several metro stops. The place is a great size and the two bathrooms are a plus. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen living area is large. It’s right next to a cafe that opens early so you can still grab a coffee and croissant to go if you have any early morning tours.
What could be improved: water pressure could be a little stronger and the water a little warmer. The washer/dryer was difficult to run.The best accommodation in Rome – Dale from United States – 28 September 2024 (10/10)
The location and the apartment are equally outstanding along with the great restaurants located on the street level. There is an elevator that is perfect for accessing the apartment. The owner is outstanding with both communication and obtaining access to the apartment. It is impeccably clean and furnished very well. The Hop on Hop off and Tiber River are approximately 1 block away. This is definitely an outstanding find.
What could be improved: The property is perfect in every way.perfect accommodations ina perfect location – Dana from United States – 14 August 2022 (10/10)
very modern and clean. beds very comfortable and plenty of pillows. check in very easy. they were so nice to accommodate our early arrival from the US
What could be improved: nothing..I plan on recommending this place to friends. it’s great!Very comfortable 2 bed/2 bath. Lots of privacy. – Michael from United States – 17 October 2024 (9/10)
Lots of resturaunts right outside the door.
What could be improved: not alot of hot water in one showerGreat location – Zhuliana from United Kingdom – 23 February 2023 (8/10)
The location was brilliant – you are a walking distance from the main landmarks! Really recommend! The apartment was modern and well-furnished.
What could be improved: The only thing we didn’t like is the fact that not enough toilet paper was provided for our 4-day stay. Additionally, each person was given a little sachet of shower gel but this was once again not sufficient for our stay. The only thing that helped us is that we brought some with us.Location was just perfect could walk to main areas easily. Bridge to Castile d’Angelo and Vatican – Hans from Canada – 2 September 2022 (8/10)
No breakfast was included
What could be improved: The services of a host would have been helpfulOverall the best thing about the apartment was the location. The bathrooms were very clean. But the bedrooms could be be – Loly from United States – 4 June 2025 (8/10)
The location of the property was really great. Wall of distance to the Vatican. Short distance to other POI’s. Restaurants and shops right downstairs.
What could be improved: While the management staff is quite responsive. The after hours staff that’s supposed to respond to emergencies never responded to us. We ran the washer in the apartment and were afraid we misread the instructions (by the way no one explained the washer instructions, which were in Italian, to us), so wanted to contact someone to confirm we didn’t cause any issues. I reached out to the number, received some automated message asking about my name and apartment location and never received any other response.great place great vfm just clean it bro – Michael from Israel – 3 September 2022 (8/10)
location was great, place was really nice
What could be improved: it was not cleaned before our arrival and throughout the week even though we stayed for 8 nights
