Room Mate Filippo Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Room Mate Filippo feels like stepping into a friend’s incredibly stylish Roman apartment — if your friend happened to have impeccable taste and a serious design budget. This four-star boutique hotel sits on Via della Purificazione, and honestly, the location alone made me do a little happy dance. You’re literally in the heart of Rome, surrounded by that effortless Italian elegance that makes you feel like you should be sipping aperitivos at all hours of the day.
The Perfect Roman Address
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re a stone’s throw from the Spanish Steps, but tucked away on a quieter street that actually lets you sleep at night. The Via Veneto area has this old-school Roman sophistication that feels authentic, not touristy. I mean, you can walk to the Trevi Fountain in about ten minutes, but you’re also surrounded by local cafés where Romans actually grab their morning espresso. The couples who stay here absolutely get it — there’s something romantic about wandering these tree-lined streets that bigger hotels in more chaotic areas just can’t match.
The Room Experience
The room design is what really sets this place apart from your typical Roman hotel. Room Mate hotels have this signature contemporary style that somehow works perfectly in a historic city — clean lines, bold colors, and these little design details that make you want to Instagram everything (but in a good way, not a trying-too-hard way). The beds are seriously comfortable, which matters more than you’d think after a day of walking on ancient cobblestones. What surprised me most was how quiet everything felt, even though you’re right in the center of everything.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here actually gets me excited, which is saying something because hotel breakfast can be such a gamble. They’ve got this great mix of continental classics, American options, and a proper buffet setup that doesn’t feel overwhelming. The coffee is legitimately good — not just “good for hotel coffee” but actually good coffee, which any Italian establishment should deliver but not all do. You know what I really appreciated? They seem to understand that travelers have different schedules and energy levels, so whether you want a quick espresso and cornetto or a full spread, you’re covered.
Why Guests Love It
There’s this perfect balance here that’s hard to find in Rome — you get the boutique hotel experience without the pretension, and the central location without the chaos. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy helping guests discover the city, and they’ll point you toward those little neighborhood gems that make a trip memorable. For couples especially, this place just works — it’s intimate enough to feel special but sophisticated enough that you’re not sacrificing comfort for charm. After staying here, I honestly can’t imagine choosing one of those massive chain hotels when you could have this kind of authentic Roman experience instead.
Hotels in Rome line cobbled piazzas, ancient forums, and renaissance palazzi.

This hotel is very cozy and nice, and you feel it once you arrive, feels like home! Everything is so neat and stylish. The room looks brand new, so every time you come back after promenade you feel super comfortable.
The staff is super friendly – from guys who welcome and check you in to amazing women who serve the breakfast. When we arrived there was a guy named Umberto – such a nice Italian man who welcomed us so warmly and recommended a lot of amazing tasty restaurants. On my Birthday they surprised me and presented me a cake while we were having breakfast. It was super nice! By the way, as to the breakfast – it was quite good and tasty. If you’ve been to Europe before, you know that a typical European breakfast is not smth really special, but I guess that this hotel has a pretty nice choice.
Location is just amazing! It’s only 10 mins walk to Trevi fountain, Spanish steps; the Colosseum is a bit further, but trust me you can walk there, especially with coffee&meal stops, so you’ll not get tired. We didn’t use any public transport at all. And one more important thing- the hotel is kind of hidden in the narrow street, so it’s not noisy, that’s a great bonus I guess.
So, I’m so happy that I chose this hotel. Many many thanks to the guys who work there, you’re making this place special.Ruth from United States (10/10)
