Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Room Mate Collection Mia? It’s that perfect sweet spot where you feel like you’re staying somewhere genuinely Roman, but without sacrificing any of the good stuff modern travelers actually want. The location on Via Capo d’Africa is honestly brilliant – I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Colosseum, but you’re tucked away on this quieter residential street where you can actually sleep at night. The building itself has this gorgeous early 1900s facade that blends right into the neighborhood, and when you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone really thought about the design. The lobby feels more like a sophisticated friend’s living room than a hotel – lots of warm wood, interesting art, and these deep leather chairs where you’ll probably end up having your morning coffee.

The rooms themselves are where this place really shines, though. They’ve managed to keep that Roman apartment feel while making everything work perfectly for travelers. My room had these huge windows that flooded the space with light, and the bathroom – honestly, the rainfall shower was probably the best part of my day most mornings. What I really appreciated was how they handled the details: proper blackout curtains (crucial if you’re dealing with jet lag), USB ports exactly where you need them, and a minibar that doesn’t feel like a trap. The beds are seriously comfortable too – I’m usually a light sleeper, but I slept like a rock every night. The neighborhood comes alive in the evenings, but once you’re inside, it’s surprisingly peaceful. You’ll hear the occasional Vespa or animated conversation floating up from the street, but it’s that nice kind of city soundtrack that makes you feel connected to the place rather than annoyed by it.

Actually, what makes this hotel special is how it connects you to Rome without overwhelming you. The staff clearly knows the neighborhood inside and out – they pointed me toward this tiny family-run trattoria on Via dei Serpenti that I never would have found otherwise, and their recommendations for avoiding crowds at the major sites were spot-on. The rooftop terrace is where you’ll want to spend your evenings, especially around aperitivo time. You get these incredible views over the ancient ruins, and there’s something almost surreal about sipping a Negroni while looking out at structures that are literally thousands of years old. The whole experience feels effortless, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to soak up a city like Rome. Sure, you’re paying for that location and attention to detail, but honestly, when you’re stepping out your front door and walking to the Colosseum before most tour groups have even had breakfast, it feels worth every euro.

  • Wonderful – Helen from United Kingdom – 29 June 2025 (8/10)

Beautiful room, just wish we had a better view! The gym was well equipped and open 24 hours. We really enjoyed our stay here. Very easy to find and get to. The views from the terrace are incredible. The staff were so kind and attentive. Loved it. Also a Dyson hairdryer which was a win! The toiletries are also really nice and bath robes included.

What could be improved: Nothing except our view or I wish I had a balcony.

  • Extraordinary – will come back! – Carrie from United States – 17 June 2025 (10/10)

Everything! Room was beautiful, spacious and simply exceptional. Service people were extraordinarily kind and helpful. We enjoyed the roof top bar/restaurant at least 3-4 times – really great drinks and food was wonderful as well. I had the sea bass for dinner and it was excellent. We were here for 7 nights, will definitely come back. The location was exceptional too- close to the coliseum and access to everything, yet quiet since it was off the main road by a block. Just can’t say enough how great this Hotel was- highly reccommend.

  • A Wonderful Home in Rome – Alasdair from United Kingdom – 29 May 2025 (10/10)

The hotel was very well located for sightseeing and pleasantly quieter than being right in the centre of the city, which can be teeming with tourists absolutely everywhere. The spacious roof terrace is a wonderful asset. The rooms are well appointed, clean and the bed very comfortable. The staff are all fantastic, helpful and willing to make the extra effort to ensure that guests have an extremely pleasant stay.
