Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Romerooms Cola di Rienzo? It’s actually tucked into this perfectly normal Roman street where locals are doing their shopping and going about their business – you’re not in some touristy bubble here. Via Cola di Rienzo is honestly one of those streets that feels like the real Rome, with its mix of shops, cafes, and residential buildings. The hotel sits right in the middle of it all, and I mean that in the best way possible.
The thing about this place is that it gets the balance right between being comfortable and not trying too hard. The rooms are clean and modern without being sterile – you’ll sleep well, the shower has proper water pressure (trust me, this matters in Rome), and there’s actually space to unpack your stuff. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re on a fairly busy street. The windows do their job. During the day though, you can hear the gentle hum of the neighborhood, which honestly made me feel more connected to the city than some hermetically sealed hotel would.
Location-wise, this is where the place really shines. You’re about a fifteen-minute walk to Vatican City – and I mean a pleasant fifteen minutes through Prati, not some grueling trek. The Ottaviano metro stop is practically around the corner, which means you can get to the Colosseum or Spanish Steps without the hassle of navigating Roman traffic. But here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you: this neighborhood has some fantastic local spots. There’s a morning market nearby where you can grab incredible fresh fruit, and the gelato place two blocks down (you’ll find it) is where actual Romans go, not tourists. The staff at Romerooms seems to know this too – they’re not just reciting scripted recommendations, they actually live in the city and it shows in their suggestions.
I’ll be honest, it’s not the fanciest place you’ll ever stay, but that’s sort of the point. It’s comfortable, well-located, and feels authentic in a way that a lot of Roman hotels don’t. The breakfast is solid – nothing spectacular, but you’re not going to leave hungry, and the coffee is proper Italian coffee. Check-in was smooth, no drama with the key cards, and the front desk folks speak excellent English if your Italian is rusty. The whole experience just felt… easy, I guess? Sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to navigate a city like Rome.

Nice and spacious room (received upgrade to a larger room). Perfect spot. Nice, clean and attractive area with lot of local restaurants and bars. Breakfast was typical Italian, in a very nice bar with excellent coffee. Staf arranged several things including cab to airport.

Great spacious rooms, very clean and beautifully decorated, with super comfortable bed, mattress and pillows. A renovated spacious bathroom with a nice shower awaits you after a long day!
The location is also great; 10 min walk to the Vatican City, a bus stop right in front of the place, and less than 10 min walk to other major bus stops/metro stations.
Supermarkets, cafes, and restaurants are within a 2-minute walk from the place.

The hosts were so kind and patient even when we got lost trying to find the apartment (our fault, not that of their directions). The room was spotless, the bathroom was huge and the facilities in the room were adequate.
