Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Rome To Stay? The name is honestly perfect – it’s not trying to be fancy or overly Italian, it just tells you exactly what it is. And after spending a few days there, I get why it has such a stellar rating.
The location on Via Carlo Alberto is actually brilliant if you know Rome at all. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Termini Station, which sounds touristy but hear me out – this isn’t the chaotic, sketchy part everyone warns you about. It’s tucked just far enough away that you don’t get the constant rumble of trains or crowds of confused travelers dragging suitcases at 6 AM, but close enough that you can stumble to the metro with your morning espresso still warm. The street itself has this nice residential feel, with that typical Roman mix of everyday life and history that you don’t get in the super touristy zones. There’s a fantastic little alimentari right around the corner where the owner (this older guy who speaks about five words of English but somehow communicates perfectly) stocks the best prosciutto I had in the entire city.
What really won me over was how the place feels more like a boutique hotel than your typical four-star chain. The lobby has this warm, lived-in elegance – think marble floors that have actually been walked on for decades, not some sterile renovation. Check-in was refreshingly human; the staff actually remembered my name and had genuine recommendations, not just the standard Colosseum-Trevi Fountain spiel. My room faced the courtyard, which I initially thought might be disappointing, but it was actually perfect – quiet at night but with these lovely morning sounds of Roman life starting up. The bed was one of those firm European mattresses that your back thanks you for after days of walking on cobblestones, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than my apartment back home.
Here’s the thing about staying near Termini that guidebooks don’t tell you – you’re actually in this sweet spot where real Romans live and work. The neighborhood has character without being precious about it. You’ve got the Santa Maria Maggiore basilica practically next door (gorgeous and usually empty of tour groups), plus you’re on the perfect metro lines to get anywhere quickly. I could walk to the Colosseum in about fifteen minutes, but more importantly, I could get to Trastevere or the Vatican without that exhausting trek through the centro storico. The area comes alive in the evenings too – there’s this energy that’s distinctly Roman rather than tourist-focused. Sure, it’s not the postcard-perfect streets of the historic center, but it’s authentic in a way that feels like you’re actually experiencing the city rather than just visiting it. Rome To Stay gets that balance right – comfortable enough that you sleep well and recharge, but integrated enough into the neighborhood that you feel like you’re living Rome, not just passing through it.

I highly recommend this place over a larger chain hotel or airbnb. The location and accommodation are perfect, clean, and comfortable, but most of all the hospitality is unbeatable. I was solo traveling and had a medical episode while staying at this property and the manager assisted me with getting doctors to the hotel room, went with me to the hospital, got my prescriptions and food for me, and checked in on me various times as I recovered. I can’t express enough my gratitude for the kindness and care I was shown at this establishment.

No issues! Ample hot water, spacious shower, everything was neat and clean. Huge spacious room: 215 square meters had more than enough space for all our luggage (we had 2 checked bags and a cabin bag each!). Location is perfect: 10min walk from Roma Termini and attractions! The windows block out all road noise and all street lights at night, thus nice and dark and quiet in the room. Lots of eateries and restaurants close by for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Roberto and Arbia are great hosts! Well priced and excellent value for money!
