Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Romalive Hotel – it’s one of those places that grows on you, even if your first impression is just “okay, this works.” The lobby’s pretty modest when you walk in, nothing fancy, but the staff actually remembers your name after a day or two, which honestly surprised me at a 3-star place.
What really sold me on this spot was the location on Via Flavia. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Termini Station (which sounds terrible but stay with me), and that turns out to be incredibly useful. Not just for trains – there’s this whole network of buses that can get you anywhere in Rome without dealing with the metro crowds. Plus, you’ve got the Baths of Diocletian right around the corner, which most tourists completely miss because they’re rushing off to the Colosseum. The rooms are… well, they’re what you’d expect for a 7/10 rating. Clean, functional, air conditioning that actually works (crucial in Roman summers), but don’t expect Instagram-worthy interiors. The beds are surprisingly comfortable though – I slept better here than at some fancier places I’ve stayed.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, despite being near the station. The street-facing rooms can pick up some early morning traffic noise, but honestly, if you’re in Rome and sleeping past 8 AM, you’re doing it wrong anyway. The breakfast situation is pretty typical – decent coffee, fresh pastries from a local bakery, nothing revolutionary but it gets the job done. Here’s the thing though – you’re a ten-minute walk from some of the best coffee bars in the city. There’s this little place on Via Nazionale that locals actually frequent, and once you’ve had their cornetto, the hotel breakfast becomes just a convenience option. The area feels properly Roman, you know? Not touristy-fake Roman, but actual neighborhood Roman. You’ll see the same faces at the corner newsstand, there’s a great little alimentari for late-night snacks, and the evening passeggiata actually happens on these streets.
Honestly, for the price point and location, Romalive delivers on what it promises – a clean, comfortable base for exploring Rome without the premium you’d pay closer to the major sites. It’s not going to wow you, but it’s not going to disappoint you either, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re spending your days walking ancient cobblestones and your evenings working through Rome’s incredible food scene.

What could be improved: The shower was not clean. Some parts of the walls inside the room needed repair. It was nice – Simancas from Spain – 22 October 2024 (8/10)
As expected..
What could be improved: …Nice hotel in an excellent location! Would stay again – Megan from United Kingdom – 30 September 2023 (7/10)
The receptionist was amazing! So friendly and kind and she took time to show me the map and highlight the best routes to take to the big landmarks.
The location was fantastic, only 10-15 minutes from the metro station and walking distance of the Trevi Fountain & Colosseum etc.
The room was a decent size & was very clean. They provided enough towels which were a good size & some toiletries too. There was lots of natural light during the day time but also curtains for privacy which was nice.
There was air conditioning & a TV in the room which worked perfectly.
What could be improved: The bed was not very comfortable to sleep on.
The bedding was a bit old, but was fine.
The rooms could do with sprucing up a bit- not that this is really an issue, it would just make it look nicer.
I was very confused when I first arrived as the hotel is not the entire building, it’s just the 6th floor. So the hotel name is not on the outside of the building. There is a lift but only for 2 people at a time so be aware you may be waiting a little bit (not a big issue).
My only other suggestion would be better lighting, at nighttime there was a small light either side of the bed, the bathroom light and a small wall light and this wasn’t always sufficient. A ceiling light would’ve made a big difference- again not an issue just a suggestion.
Note- breakfast is from a cafe 1-2 minutes walk away. The cafe is lovely & good food, but only the English breakfast is included so this limits your choice a bit. If I’d known this, I wouldn’t have gone for breakfast included as I didn’t fancy a full English every morning.Very comfortable stay – Olga from Poland – 21 July 2023 (8/10)
Very good location – walking distance to city center. Big room and bathroom. Air conditioning which was saving us 🙂 Very helpful staff. Possibility to enter the hotel late at night – code to the door. Breakfast is not in the hotel – it is in nearby cafe/small lunch place? (Hard to find the correct description 🙂 ) You get vouchers for English breakfasy we were allowed to exchange it to Avocado toast / Sandwiches / Foccacia / some sweets. Drinks are not included, you need to pay for it.
What could be improved: Could be a little more clean, and some small repairs could be made – but either way, it was comfortable for us.It was best value for money, clean, convenient and eating places just round the corner. – Chanda from United Kingdom – 14 April 2025 (8/10)
We could hear humming noise in the night.
Good – Irksousi from Romania – 9 February 2025 (7/10)
What could be improved: There is no breakfast, just a voucher to get a croisont and a capucino at a local across the street.
Good – Cristian-mihai from Spain – 3 February 2025 (7/10)
Relative close to the city center, you need to walk or take the bus. Good value for money. If you are not with really high expectations this is just fine.
What could be improved: The furniture quite old ,needs a little makeover. Overall ok
