Hotel Description

You know what? The Roma Resort Colosseum isn’t going to blow your mind, but it’s actually a pretty solid choice if you want to stay near Termini Station without dealing with the usual chaos. I mean, Via Emanuele Filiberto isn’t exactly Rome’s most charming street – honestly, it’s got that slightly gritty urban vibe you get around major train stations – but that’s kind of the point. You’re literally a five-minute walk from trains to anywhere in Italy, plus there’s this great little Ethiopian place (Zeret Kitchen) two blocks down that hardly any tourists know about.

The hotel itself feels like someone took a standard business hotel and tried to give it some Roman flair without going overboard. The lobby’s got these warm terracotta tiles that actually work, and the staff behind the front desk seem genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions. I’ve stayed here twice now, and both times check-in was smooth – no drama, no weird hidden fees, just straightforward service. The rooms are clean and comfortable enough, though honestly, the air conditioning can be a bit temperamental in summer (pro tip: the rooms facing the courtyard are quieter than the street-side ones, especially at night when the buses are still running). The WiFi actually works throughout the building, which isn’t always a given in older Roman hotels.

Here’s the thing that makes this place work – it’s positioned perfectly for people who want to see Rome but don’t want to pay tourist-district prices. San Lorenzo, the university neighborhood, is just a short walk away, and that’s where you’ll find the kind of restaurants and bars where Romans actually hang out. The Santa Maria Maggiore basilica is right there too, and it’s honestly one of the most beautiful churches in the city but somehow gets overlooked by the Vatican crowds. Plus, if you’re planning day trips – and you should, because places like Tivoli and Ostia Antica are incredible – you can catch those trains without schlepping across the city with your day pack. The 7.4 rating feels about right; it’s not luxury, but it’s reliable and well-located in a way that lets you experience Rome like less of a tourist. Just don’t expect a rooftop bar or marble bathrooms – this is more about getting a good night’s sleep and easy access to everything that makes Rome amazing.

Reviews

  • Overall the property was very spacious and up to date and very good value. My family and I will be staying here in our f – Briah from United States – 24 June 2025 (7/10)

The property was very clean and in a great location. The staff were very helpful and professional with assistance with everything.

What could be improved: The showers in the two big bedrooms were small and compact. There was also no livingroom space for my family and I to lounge in.

  • Very good location, easy to reach from the central station, easy to go to the center. Big apartment with nice view – Michela from Italy – 3 March 2025 (8/10)

The big apartment with three beds and three bathrooms

What could be improved: A little dated. They should do maintenance

  • overall great stay – Careen from France – 28 February 2025 (8/10)

The rooms were great, perfect place to stay if in a group. The location is great and it's a great easy walk to the Colosseum

What could be improved: everything was fine for our trip

  • The hotel is definitely worth staying in and great value for money as well, with the central location and the spacious r – Damini from United Kingdom – 20 December 2024 (8/10)

The property was perfect for us in Rome. The room was clean and equipped with good appliances. The room was spacious as well. The best part of this property was the location. It was centrally located with direct access to the metro to take you all around Rome. In addition to that it is just a 20 minute walk away to the colosseum which was great!

What could be improved: The air conditioning was not working well, and the door was not able to lock as well. This was a bit worrying as the front door of the hotel was also broken and unable to lock. The rooms architecture was a bit old but we had a great stay despite these small issues.

  • Good – Rachel from New Zealand – 15 November 2024 (7/10)

    Great location
    Clean

What could be improved: Bit painful to get in after business hours

  • Disappointing location ! – Jeanne from United States – 24 October 2024 (6/10)

The a room was large bright and spotless. The staff were wonderful and accommodating.

What could be improved: It is IMPOSSIBLE to find ! On a corner the door looks like a door from Harry Potter. Graffiti all over the door and not labeled. We went around in circles until someone answered the phone and we couldn’t believe that’s what we were entering, once inside it was decent however the second day, someone on the higher level floors didn’t shut the door on the elevator so the elevator was not usable. Very pricy considering the location and still a 20 min almost 1 mile walk to the entrance of the colosseum.

  • Very Good stay – Andrei from Moldova – 18 October 2024 (8/10)

    Great location, clean room

What could be improved: A little bit dirty in the hall, on stairs, by the elevator

  • Very good – Ingrid from Costa Rica – 14 October 2024 (8/10)

Has the option for self check in after the reception is closed, and they will allow you keep your luggage for the day before of after you check in/out

What could be improved: This is the only property in booking where I get “virus” messages from , so it’s a little confusing to know when an email is coming from the property and when it’s phishing. Additionally it takes a while for them to respond and that caused us some inconveniences

  • Not the Ritz But Still Good enough – Maureen from United States – 13 October 2024 (8/10)

The location was excellent. Metro just outside the door. Was clean and sufficient.

What could be improved: Reception closes at 4 so was never open by the time we would get back. Stove top did not work.

  • Overall, comfortable, good location, 15 minute walk to colleseum. – June from United States – 29 September 2024 (8/10)

Metro right outside front door. Very spacious, we had 3 rooms, 2 bathrooms & 2 small refrigerators.

What could be improved: Not enough electrical outlets close to where they would be needed. Only 1 blanket available for 3 beds.
