Roma Mia in Trastevere Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Roma Mia in Trastevere feels a bit like discovering a secret — you’re climbing to the second floor of a residential building in one of Rome’s most authentic neighborhoods, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special. This four-star boutique property doesn’t announce itself with a grand lobby or doormen, but rather welcomes you into what feels like a beautifully appointed Roman apartment. The intimate scale means you’re getting personalized attention from the moment you arrive, and I mean that in the best possible way.
Location & Neighborhood
Trastevere is where Romans actually go to eat and drink, not just tourists — though you’ll find plenty of both wandering the cobblestone streets below. You’re positioned perfectly between the heart of Trastevere’s restaurant scene and the Gianicolense area, which gives you this nice balance of authentic local life and easy access to the action. The couples who stay here consistently rave about the location, and I get it — there’s something romantic about being tucked away in a real Roman neighborhood while still being able to walk to the major sights. You can actually reach the Vatican in about 20 minutes on foot, or hop across the river to Campo de’ Fiori in roughly the same time.
The Experience
What strikes me most about this place is how it manages to feel both upscale and genuinely Roman at the same time. The rooms have that refined boutique hotel aesthetic — think carefully chosen furnishings and thoughtful details — without feeling stuffy or overly formal. You know what I really appreciate? The fact that recent guests consistently rate their experience so highly (we’re talking 9.5 out of 10), which tells me the staff is doing something right beyond just the beautiful spaces. It’s the kind of place where they remember your name and your coffee preferences.
Practical Perks
Being on the second floor of a residential building might sound quirky, but it actually works in your favor — you get real Roman architecture and neighborhood views instead of staring at other hotel windows. The building itself is well-maintained, and honestly, climbing those stairs feels like part of the authentic Roman experience. Plus, you’re getting that highly-rated location score for a reason — guests consistently mention how easy it is to explore from here, whether you’re heading to the Vatican, the historic center, or just wandering Trastevere’s winding streets for the perfect dinner spot.
Why Guests Love It
This isn’t your typical Roman hotel experience, and that’s precisely the point. You’re staying in a neighborhood where locals still hang laundry from their windows and gather at corner bars for morning espresso, but you’re doing it with all the comfort and service of a well-run boutique property. The combination of that authentic Trastevere location with refined accommodations seems to hit the sweet spot for travelers who want to feel like they’re actually living in Rome for a few days, not just visiting it. When couples specifically seek this place out and rate the location so highly, you know you’ve found something special.
To book a hotel in Rome during spring blossoms, visitors plan ahead to pair Trastevere trattorias with Borghese picnics.

The host was nice, responsive and helpful, and, among other things, allowed us to leave our luggage for keeping on check-out day. Check in was convenient, and the apartment was clean and spacious. The place is a short walking distance from the Trastevere train station, and there are cafes and a bar close by.

The host was very sweet. We requested to leave a bit later for the checkout and she moved the cleaning to one hour late. Also she was very responsive all the time.

Perfect location in terms of accessibility from airport (just get the train, stop in Trastevere and then it is a 5 min walk).
And very close to city center with both bus and tram lines just 100m from the appartment.
Very nice and clean rooms, excellent host!Alessia from Italy (9/10)
This is a truly exceptional establishment.
Neat, self contained, clean, spacious. Everything as it should be. Coffee machine with decent coffee, decent provisions for breakfast, a refrigerator. The place is also brand new.
Having had to stay in B&Bs in the UK I'd say that, thankfully, this place was up to the *Italian standard*.Aishabibi from Italy (10/10)
Exceptionally clean and it was really easy to check in. Room was very spacious and had coffee, snacks, very clean showers, clean towels, huge TV. Location is very good as well, quiet neighborhood but very close to city center.
