Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Rhome Vintage Holidays? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – it’s got this perfectly curated retro vibe that feels intentional without being kitschy. I mean, Via Gregorio VII isn’t exactly the street tourists memorize, but that’s honestly part of the charm. You’re in Aurelio, which locals will tell you is one of those neighborhoods that feels genuinely Roman rather than tourist-Rome, if that makes sense.

The location is sort of brilliant in a way most people don’t immediately get. Sure, you’re not stumbling out your door onto the Spanish Steps, but you’re actually closer to St. Peter’s than half the “central” hotels – and here’s the thing nobody mentions: you can walk to the Vatican without fighting through the crowds that clog up the main tourist arteries. There’s this lovely route through the residential streets that locals use, and honestly, it’s way more pleasant than the usual tourist march. Plus, the metro connection at Cipro is just a few minutes away, so you’re never really stuck out here.

What really won me over was how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between boutique character and actual comfort. The vintage touches feel authentic – not like someone just threw some old furniture in a room and called it themed. The staff clearly knows their stuff too; when I asked about dinner recommendations, I got sent to this family-run trattoria on Via Baldo degli Ubaldi that I never would have found otherwise (and where I definitely didn’t see another tourist the entire evening). That’s the kind of local knowledge that makes a difference.

The rooms themselves are well thought out – good lighting for actually reading, proper storage space, and thank god, effective air conditioning. I stayed during a particularly warm October, and while you could hear the occasional scooter from the street, it’s nothing like the chaos you get in the centro storico. The bathroom was one of those surprisingly spacious ones that makes you wonder why other hotels can’t figure this out. Small detail, but the shower pressure was excellent – you know how hit-or-miss that can be in Rome.

Here’s what I’d tell anyone considering this place: if you’re the type who needs to be within stumbling distance of the Pantheon, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want to feel like you’re staying in an actual Roman neighborhood while still being ridiculously close to the major sights, it’s pretty much perfect. The morning walk to St. Peter’s became my favorite part of the day – through these tree-lined streets where you pass locals walking their dogs and grabbing coffee, not tour groups following umbrellas. And honestly, given that 9.3 rating, I’m probably not the only one who figured this out.

A wonderful accommodation! Everything is top-notch, starting from the beautifully decorated rooms (where you’ll find everything you need), to the energy of the place that makes you feel very cozy and relaxed, perfectly blending with the overall design of the apartment.

Located just a 15-minute walk from the Vatican, in a civilized and easily accessible area in terms of transport, with a bus stop right across the street from the apartment.

The host, Marco, is very kind and ensures quick communication, which makes the check-in/check-out process smooth (the instructions provided were very clear and easy to follow).

Excellent value for money – I would recommend this place anytime.
