You know what struck me first about Residenza Vatican Suite? It’s actually tucked away on Via Cola di Rienzo, which honestly couldn’t be better positioned if you tried. I mean, you’re literally in Prati – that’s the neighborhood where Romans actually shop and eat, not just the touristy spots. The building itself sits right at 111, and there’s something satisfying about walking past all those elegant storefronts and cafes before ducking into what feels like your own little Roman apartment building. The entrance is understated in that effortlessly chic Italian way – no flashy lobby, just clean lines and that particular smell of old marble that somehow makes everything feel more authentic.

What really gets me about this place is how it nails that sweet spot between feeling like a proper hotel and staying at a sophisticated friend’s place. The suites (and they really are suites, not just rooms with a fancy name) have this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake. I’m talking about actual space to spread out, kitchenettes that you’ll actually use, and windows that open properly – which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places seal you in with recycled air. The morning light hits just right, especially if you score one of the upper floors, and you can hear the gentle hum of the neighborhood waking up rather than traffic chaos. Speaking of which, Cola di Rienzo gets busy during shopping hours, but it’s that good kind of busy where you feel plugged into real Roman life.

The location thing – well, it’s about a 10-minute walk to St. Peter’s, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by places locals actually go. There’s this fantastic rosticceria just down the street where you can grab proper Roman pizza al taglio, and the Ottaviano metro stop is close enough that you’re not dragging luggage forever but far enough that you’re not dealing with tourist crowds every time you step outside. The staff here gets that balance too – they’re genuinely helpful without being hovering, and they know their neighborhood well enough to point you toward the good stuff. Honestly, with a 9.1 rating, you’re looking at the kind of place that consistently delivers on what it promises, which in Rome can be surprisingly rare. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it absolutely nails being the kind of spot you’d want to come back to – and probably will.

  Everything was so nice. The host contacted us to give us tips how to arrive from the airport. The girl Fabiana was so nice and helpful, she allowed us to enter the room at 12, just as we arrived. The room was super clean and well equipped. The breakfast was very good too. You could choose what you wanted to eat the next day. The beds were comfy, the street safe, and the area was close to Vatican and the city. All in all, the Rome is a wonderful city, but this hotel makes you feel like home.

VaticanSuites Residence has a great location, close to the Vatican, in an old house with a lovely courtyard, wonderfully organised: neat, clean, lovely fresh renovations, helpful staff, cleaned every day.   The staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable, and the room was spacious. This hotel is in an excellent location for exploring Rome, with most attractions within walking distance. If we ever plan a return trip to Rome, this place will be our first choice.
