Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Roman B&Bs, and honestly, Residenza Scipioni caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know that moment when you’re walking down Via Degli Scipioni – this quiet residential street that most tourists never find – and you realize you’re actually in one of Rome’s most authentic neighborhoods? That’s exactly what happened here. The Prati district doesn’t get the Instagram love that Trastevere does, but locals know it’s where you go when you want to live like a Roman, not just visit like one.
The building itself has that understated elegance that Italians do so well – no flashy signs or tourist traps, just a beautifully restored entrance that whispers rather than shouts. What really struck me was how the owners (and I mean this in the best way) seem to actually care about the details that matter. The rooms have this perfect balance of old-world charm and modern comfort – I’m talking about proper lighting for reading, outlets where you need them, and bathrooms that don’t require engineering degrees to operate the shower. The breakfast spread was… well, let’s just say I understood why my Italian friends always talk about starting the day properly. Fresh cornetti from the local pasticceria, real espresso that doesn’t taste like it came from a machine, and honestly, some of the best prosciutto I’ve had outside of Parma.
But here’s what really sold me on this place – you’re a ten-minute walk from the Vatican (seriously, you can see the dome from some windows), but you’re also right around the corner from Via Cola di Rienzo, which is where Romans actually shop. No crowds fighting for selfies, just real neighborhood life. The Metro stop at Lepanto is literally two blocks away, so getting to the Colosseum or Spanish Steps is ridiculously easy. And parking? Well, it’s Rome, so it’s never simple, but the narrow streets here aren’t completely impossible like they are in Centro Storico. I actually managed to find street parking twice – minor miracle territory. The only thing I’d mention is that if you’re someone who needs constant action outside your window, this might feel a bit quiet, especially in the evenings. But honestly, after a day of Roman chaos, coming back to this peaceful corner felt like finding a secret. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you realize this isn’t just accommodation – it’s your temporary Roman home in a neighborhood that still feels authentically Italian.

This double room in Rome was perfect for my trip. The location is excellent, just a 10-minute walk to the Vatican and Ottaviano Metro station, making it super convenient to explore the city.
The apartment is spotless and well-maintained, and the room itself is very clean and beautifully decorated. The best part? I could see the Vatican dome from my window, which made the stay even more special.
The host was truly outstanding—her hospitality was top-notch. She provided detailed explanations about the room, neighborhood, and transportation, ensuring a smooth stay. The instructions for entering the apartment were also very clear, making check-in hassle-free.
