Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Rome hotels, but Residenza Delle Arti really caught me off guard – in the best way possible. The moment you step into this place on Piazza Sidney Sonnino, you get it. It’s not trying to be some massive chain hotel, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work. The building itself has this authentic Roman character that you just can’t fake, with those high ceilings and original details that remind you you’re actually in a centuries-old neighborhood, not some tourist bubble.

What really sold me on this place was how it sits right in the heart of Trastevere without feeling like you’re camping out in the middle of a theme park. I mean, yes, you’re going to hear the occasional late-night reveler stumbling home from the bars on Via del Moro (it’s Trastevere, after all), but the rooms are surprisingly well-insulated. And you know what? There’s something kind of magical about falling asleep to the distant sound of conversation drifting up from the piazza below – it beats traffic noise any day. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too, which is rarer than you’d think. They pointed me toward this incredible little trattoria tucked away on Vicolo del Cinque that I never would have found otherwise, and when I needed a pharmacy at 10 PM, they knew exactly which one stays open late near Ponte Sisto.

The rooms themselves strike that perfect balance between comfort and character – they’ve clearly put thought into the renovation without scrubbing away all the personality. My room had these gorgeous original shutters that actually blocked out the morning light (crucial when you’ve been out exploring Roman nightlife), and the bathroom was modern enough that I didn’t feel like I was roughing it. The breakfast situation is solid too, though don’t expect some massive buffet spread – it’s more intimate than that, which honestly fits the vibe better. What really impressed me was how easy everything felt. Check-in was smooth, the WiFi actually worked reliably, and when I needed to store my bags after checkout to squeeze in one more afternoon wandering around Santa Maria in Trastevere, they handled it without any fuss. Sometimes it’s those little things that make or break a trip, you know? Plus, and this is huge if you’re planning to explore beyond Trastevere, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Tram 8 stop, which gets you across the river without having to navigate Roman traffic or hunt for parking.

Reviews

  • Exceptional – Sharon from United States – 2 July 2025 (10/10)

We loved our stay with Ursula. There are five rooms, and our group of friends booked four of them. They were all spacious, with large bathrooms and fantastic black-out shutters. Air conditioning was strong. Breakfast is available all day, and great for grab and go.

What could be improved: WiFi is very weak in some areas of the hotel.

  • Superb – Teodora from United States – 1 July 2025 (9/10)

Urszula was great and good location!

Exceptional location and a wonderful host.

  • I highly reccomend this place og you want to stay in Trastevere. Close to everything. Great host, great room and breakfa – Ellen from Norway – 4 June 2025 (10/10)

    Everything was perfect!

  • 3 nights at Residenza – Andrew from United Kingdom – 4 June 2025 (10/10)

The welcome was so brilliant. Super friendly and beyond helpful. Frankly the best hosts we could wish for. Loved the breakfast offer and other food and drink available. Fabulous room and view.

What could be improved: There was nothing we didn't like.

  • Exceptional service, great breakfast, big room. – Ruth from United Kingdom – 27 May 2025 (10/10)

Great location, lovely help yourself breakfast (which was there all day), big room, big bathroom. Real homely feel. Don’t be fooled by the exterior. This is a lovely apartment in a block converted into a mini hotel. 5 bedrooms and big shared reception/ hall area.
Best thing though is the level of welcome and service from Ursula and her son Davide. She could not have done more for us, including standing out in the rain to get us a taxi. Above and beyond. Could not recommend more.

What could be improved: The outside is not as nice as the wonderful interior, but that really doesn’t matter. It’s great.

  • 가장 친숙한 편안함 – 방랑자38 from South Korea – 19 May 2025 (10/10)

This was my second stay in Rome and it was a truly special place of comfort. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the host, Madame Urszula, and her family for their warm kindness and consideration. When I told them about my enjoyment of gelato in Italy during check-in, she immediately bought us some delicious gelato from far away. I was really touched. And I could see her sincerity in the clean and well-organized hotel and the neatness of the breakfast. My wife and I were able to forget the fatigue from our trip with the special comfort of staying here. And because of our late flight, they were considerate enough to keep our luggage until we left for the airport and even arranged transportation to the airport. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Urszula's family for being so kind to us, traveling from a faraway country. If we come to Rome again, we will stay here. Thank you! URSZULA!

    What could be improved: 없어요.

  • Fantastic location and excellent hosts . – Dennis from Australia – 13 May 2025 (9/10)

The continental breakfast was exceptional . Lots of variety and choice. Excellent service from Ursula and Davide. Always helpful and willing to go the extra mile with a smile.

  • Fantastic – Virginia from Australia – 8 May 2025 (9/10)

Urszula is a wonderful host warm ,welcoming and generous the provisions for breakfast and snacks were bountiful and it is apparent by the little things that she is passionate about providing a comfortable environment.
We were met at the property by her very charming and helpful son Lorenzo who showed us all the facilities and also provided local information and useful tips.
Residenza Delle Arti is a lovely Art Deco building and the location was great for us as all the sights we wished to see were a 15-20 minute walk across the river and the Travestere neighborhood is great – full of many restaurants & bars.
I would recommend this as a good place to stay

What could be improved: Just a bit noisy because it’s on a main thoroughfare however there are shutters & earplugs provided to help mitigate this
