You know what caught me off guard about Repubblica Penthouse & Terrace? The moment you step out of that tiny elevator onto the top floor, you’re suddenly looking out over Rome’s terracotta rooftops like you own the place. I mean, Via Nazionale isn’t exactly the most charming street in Rome – it’s basically a busy thoroughfare that connects Termini Station to the historic center – but get up high enough and suddenly all that street-level chaos transforms into this incredible urban panorama.

The penthouse itself feels like someone’s wealthy Roman uncle decided to rent out his place while he’s in Tuscany for the summer. The terrace is honestly the star here – I spent way too many evenings out there with a bottle of wine from the little enoteca around the corner on Via del Boschetto (locals’ tip: skip the overpriced hotel minibar and grab something decent for half the price). The furniture’s solid, nothing fancy but comfortable enough, and the kitchen actually works if you’re planning to cook – though honestly, with Trajan’s Market just a fifteen-minute walk away, why would you? The air conditioning works well, which matters more than you’d think during those brutal July afternoons when the city feels like an oven.

Location-wise, you’re right in that sweet spot where you can walk to the Colosseum in about twenty minutes, but you’re also close enough to Termini that getting to and from the airport is painless. The building sits on a section of Via Nazionale that gets pretty busy during rush hour – you’ll hear some traffic, especially if you’re sensitive to noise – but it dies down by evening. There’s a decent pizzeria al taglio literally across the street that stays open late, and the staff there started recognizing me after the third day, which always makes you feel a bit more local. One thing that surprised me was how quickly you can duck into the residential streets behind the hotel – suddenly you’re in these quiet neighborhoods where old ladies are hanging laundry and kids are playing soccer against ancient walls. The 8.1 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow you away with luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises: a proper Roman experience with a view that’ll make your Instagram followers seriously jealous, and honestly, sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

  Location was great, close to restaurants and grocery markets, and close to touristy sites.
  
  What could be improved: The amount of stairs just to get to the elevator was difficult with strollers and luggage. And then there were more stairs after getting out of the elevator. The elevator was tiny could only fit two people, or one person with luggage. The fridge opened the wrong way and the bathroom faucet needs attention as the flow was measly.

  Great amount of space both inside and on private terraces for a family of 5. Proximity to bus, metro, and train station were excellent and made getting around a breeze.

  The location. Good connected to the various strategic places, grosseries and shops.
  The appt was good equipped, air conditioning and washing machine were very much appreciated.
  
  What could be improved: Elevator was on 1st floor and too many stairs which made the carrying of the luggages uncomfortable.
  The big terrace was nice but it could have been cleaner and better arranged, more flowers, plants fewer weeds.

  The Penthouse was ideal for our short trip to Rome. During our three days, we found the location was great for getting to all the attraction on foot or by the metro. The property is part of a larger building of residences and a hotel.. There is good security. Checking in was easy. The atmosphere is peaceful despite being close to the bustling city. Whilst basic, the property has everything needed. The beds were comfy. Should also add that communications with the managing agent were excellent throughout. Overall, we would highly recommend this property for short breaks like ours.
