Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Relais Tiburtina? It’s one of those places that actually feels like Rome without trying too hard. I mean, you’re in the Nomentano district here – not exactly the tourist center, but honestly that’s what makes it work. Via Teodorico is this quiet residential street where you’ll hear actual Romans going about their day, not just tour groups clicking past your window at 7 AM.
The hotel itself sits in what feels like a converted townhouse, and they’ve done something smart with the space. The lobby has this warm, lived-in elegance – think rich fabrics and decent art, but not the sterile luxury you get at those big chain places near the Colosseum. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood when I asked about dinner spots (they steered me toward this little trattoria on Via Nomentana that I never would’ve found otherwise). The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – comfortable beds, good shower pressure, and enough space to actually unpack without playing furniture Tetris. I stayed on the third floor and it was genuinely quiet at night, which is saying something for Rome.
Here’s the thing about staying in Nomentano – you’re about a 15-minute metro ride from the Forum, but you’re also walking distance from Villa Torlonia, which most visitors completely skip even though it’s gorgeous and way less crowded than Villa Borghese. The Policlinico metro stop is maybe a 10-minute walk, and from there you’re connected to everything. Parking was actually manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in Rome will tell you is basically a miracle. The area comes alive in the evenings when the locals hit the cafés along Via Nomentana – it’s got that authentic Roman neighborhood vibe where you’ll overhear heated discussions about football and politics spilling out onto the sidewalk. I found myself lingering over morning coffee at the bar across the street, watching the rhythm of the place. Look, if you want to be right in the thick of tourist central, this isn’t your spot. But if you want to experience Rome more like someone who actually lives here – with easy access to the big sights but a genuine neighborhood to come home to – Relais Tiburtina hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Reviews
Great location and value! – Lam from United States – 8 June 2025 (8/10)
The location was great! It was near the metro station and high speed rail station. The bed was comfortable and room was a good size with a small refrigerator. The owner was very easy to talk with and understanding since I checked in late in the evening.
Very good – Khusali from United States – 10 June 2024 (8/10)
Very close to the station. Quick and prompt response from host. Very helpful and accommodating. Let me store baggage after checkout as well
What could be improved: The area around the station isn’t very good and comfortable.Great location and friendly owners. – Estefanía from Spain – 28 May 2024 (8/10)
The location is perfect and super well connected by train, bus and metro. It takes like 30mins from the city center or even less. The room was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom is a bit small but nothing that would make your stay unpleasant. The owners are super friendly and flexible. You can leave your bags upon your check out and pick them up when you need it, they will open the door for you.
What could be improved: It is not that we didn't like it, but the breakfast won't be enough if you like to have a whole meal in the morning. This wasn't an issue for us because the neighborhood is full of bars and restaurants. Even for having a nice dinner you can find great options.Very pleasant – Jat from France – 21 May 2024 (8/10)
Clean and comfortable
What could be improved: NothingVery good – Nikola from United Kingdom – 25 February 2024 (8/10)
Location being close to a tube station and Tiburtina rail station. The lady at the reception is quite friendly.
Superb – Noreen from Philippines – 22 February 2024 (9/10)
The location was the best. The room was spacious and everything is comfortable. The breakfast we haven't tried because we leave earlier than the breakfast time.
What could be improved: I haven't thought of anything bad. Because I will truly recommend the place. I love everything.Very good – Anna from United Kingdom – 28 November 2023 (8/10)
Very good location, close to the tube station and bus station
What could be improved: The breakfast service could be improved. There is no kettle available in the kitchenSuperb – John from United States – 24 November 2023 (9/10)
Watching the sunrise from the roof top porch was beautiful. And it was so close to the train and bus stations.
Very good – Jelena from Serbia – 22 November 2023 (8/10)
What could be improved: Bad internet signal
Superb – Andrei from Romania – 19 November 2023 (9/10)
The room was spacious and the bed was confortable. The bathroom was well equiped with everything we needed.
The room was quiet and very nice.
Near the hotel is a good restaurant that opens only during the evening. The food was great.
What could be improved: I was surprised that we had to pay the city tax when we checked out, because I thought that it was already payed, but Simone explained that it was not so, and the explanation maked sense.
Eherything was nice in the end.
Thank you Simone!
