Hotel Description
You know what surprised me most about Relais Rasella 47? It’s tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street that feels completely separate from the tourist chaos, but you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Trevi Fountain. I mean, you can actually hear the fountain’s water from some of the upper floor rooms if you crack the window at night – which honestly became this oddly soothing white noise that helped me sleep better than expected.
The building itself has that classic Roman charm where you walk through these heavy wooden doors into a tiny lobby that feels more like someone’s elegant living room than a hotel reception. The staff there – and I’m thinking specifically of Marco who was working most evenings – actually knows the neighborhood inside and out. He steered me away from the obvious tourist trap restaurants right by the fountain and sent me to this little osteria on Via del Lavatore where locals actually eat (Pro tip: the cacio e pepe there is incredible, and it’s maybe a two-minute walk). The rooms are smaller than what you’d get in a modern chain hotel, but they’re decorated with genuine antiques and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. I stayed in a room facing the internal courtyard, which meant zero street noise – something you definitely want to consider since Via del Corso gets pretty lively, especially on weekend nights.
What really won me over was the breakfast situation. It’s served in this intimate dining room with maybe eight tables, and they actually make fresh cornetti every morning. The coffee is proper Italian espresso, not that watery stuff you sometimes get at tourist-focused places. During my stay in late September, I noticed they adjusted the breakfast hours based on how many guests they had – very personal touch that you don’t see at bigger hotels. The location is honestly perfect if you want to explore central Rome on foot. You’re close enough to the Spanish Steps to pop over in the morning before the crowds hit, and the Pantheon is maybe a ten-minute stroll through these winding streets that feel like a movie set. The Metro station at Barberini is about five minutes away, though honestly, you probably won’t need it much since everything worth seeing is walkable from here. Fair warning though – like most Roman hotels, the elevator is tiny and the stairs are narrow, so pack light or be prepared for a bit of a workout with heavy luggage. But that’s part of the charm, really, staying in a place that feels authentically Roman rather than sanitized for tourists.

The location was amazing. Easy to find, great instructions, accommodating host allowed us to leave luggage before checkin. Close to metro and Trevi. I really loved the history of the street too.
What could be improved: The main bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The kitchen facilities were certainly small and adult can barely navigate it. Simple provisions like a plug and tea towel were lacking. the shower leaking onto the floor also which was difficult to clean up without additional towels. the apartment doesn’t really have space for a washing machine, but that would also improve the stay.Beautiful apartment, clean and very central.Shower was fabulous – Anthony from Spain – 24 March 2025 (9/10)
Very centrally located and very spacious.

What could be improved: A bit outdated , kitchen a bit pokey not really suitable for cooking , needs tea towels
Shower door and attachments need attention which we reported on departure.Close to Trevi! – Robert from Australia – 17 January 2025 (7/10)
Location is great, literally moments away from Trevi and other attractions. Property was easy to access; and the rooms were spacious.
What could be improved: Everything is a little outdated/ none of the lights in main room worked; need a bit of a refresh:Superb – Martina from Bulgaria – 5 December 2024 (9/10)
The location and the property itself are great. Very cozy and a very good starting point for exploring Rome.
What could be improved: It’s quite noisy at night (I suppose because of the very central location). The hot water runs out quite fast. We had some difficulties adjusting the temperature at the property.Well situated property with ample room and facilities. Extremely easy to locate and check in/check out was very easy – Michael from United States – 28 November 2024 (9/10)
Excellent location and facilities for a multi day stay.
