Hotel Description

You know what really struck me about Relais Monti? It’s tucked away on Via Urbana in this perfect sweet spot where you actually feel like you’re living in Rome, not just visiting it. I mean, you walk out the door and there’s this whole neighborhood life happening around you – locals grabbing their morning espresso at the corner bar, kids heading to school, that sort of authentic Roman rhythm you just can’t get near the Trevi Fountain.

The hotel itself has this understated elegance that honestly surprised me. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top Italian – more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place who has really good taste. The rooms are thoughtfully designed with these lovely touches (the bathroom marble actually feels luxurious, not just decorative), and here’s something practical – the walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway. The neighborhood can get lively, especially on weekends when people are bar-hopping around Monti, but inside it’s surprisingly quiet. Check-in was smooth too, which matters when you’re jet-lagged and just want to drop your bags.

What I really love about this location is how walkable everything becomes. You’re maybe ten minutes from the Colosseum if you want to do the tourist thing, but you’re also right in the heart of Monti, which has become this fantastic little enclave of wine bars and trattorias that Romans actually go to. Via del Boschetto is right there with some of my favorite vintage shops, and the whole area has this village-y feel despite being in the center of Rome. The staff clearly knows the neighborhood well – they pointed me toward this tiny place for cacio e pepe that I never would have found otherwise. Honestly, for a four-star place, the service feels more personal than corporate, which is refreshing. The 8.6 rating makes sense to me because it’s not perfect (the elevator is charmingly small, let’s say), but it gets the important stuff right and the location is just unbeatable if you want to experience Rome like you live there.

  Location was excellent. The street was a beautiful quaint Roman laneway, with restaurants and shops at our door, and close to numerous sites.
  The hotel felt safe, with an electronic entry. A small lift was appreciated by tired legs.
  The room was small, but the bed and pillows were comfortable.
  We arranged for an airport a transfer through the hotel, which was a late but decision, but well worth the expense after nearly 20 hours flying!
  Communication ahead of our arrival was relevant and appreciated.
  
  What could be improved: We would have liked an iron/ironing board to freshen up our clothes.

  Stay for 2 nights. Booking a room for 3 people. The room is clean. The room space is not big but the arrangement is nice. They provide amenities for 3 people. Near the metro station, there are a lot of restaurants near the hotel. Recommended hotel..

  Great location, very easy walk from Termini, very easy walk to the colosseum, fab bars and restaurants in the surrounding streets. Felt very safe travelling with an 8yr old. We had a lovely balcony too! Bathroom and room were clean and great facilities. Lovely staff. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
