Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Relais At Via Veneto, I wasn’t expecting much. I mean, it’s right there on the famous Via Veneto, which honestly feels a bit touristy these days compared to when Fellini was filming La Dolce Vita here in the ’60s. But you know what? This place actually gets it right. The building itself has that classic Roman elegance without trying too hard – sort of understated in a way that makes you feel like you stumbled onto something the guidebooks missed, even though you definitely didn’t.

The location is what really makes this work, though. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Spanish Steps, but more importantly, you’re in this little pocket where actual Romans still hang out. There’s this fantastic little enoteca just around the corner on Via Sicilia that I never would’ve found if I’d stayed down near the Pantheon with everyone else. And here’s the thing about Via Veneto – yes, it can get busy during the day with tour groups, but by evening it settles into this lovely rhythm where you can actually hear yourself think. The hotel sits back just enough from the main street that you don’t get the noise, but you’re close enough to pop out for a proper aperitivo without planning your whole evening around it.

What struck me most was how the staff actually seemed to know Rome – not just the obvious stuff, but like when I mentioned I was interested in Caravaggio, the concierge didn’t just point me toward San Luigi dei Francesi (which everyone knows about). He told me about this tiny chapel in Santa Maria del Popolo that’s usually empty and has this incredible painting you can actually see without fighting crowds. The rooms themselves are solid – nothing groundbreaking, but they’ve got that Italian attention to detail where everything just works. Good water pressure, actual blackout curtains, and the AC doesn’t sound like a jet engine, which honestly puts it ahead of half the places I’ve stayed in Rome. The breakfast spread is respectable too, though if you’re expecting American-style variety, you’ll be disappointed. It’s more about doing the basics really well – proper coffee, decent pastries, and they don’t rush you out the door.

The only real downside is parking – if you’re driving, you’ll want to sort that out ahead of time because the nearby options fill up fast. But honestly, if you’re staying here, you probably don’t need a car anyway. The metro’s right there at Barberini, and you can walk to most of what you actually want to see. I ended up extending my stay an extra night, which says something since I’m usually ready to move on after a couple days anywhere. It’s one of those places that just feels right – comfortable without being boring, well-located without being chaotic, and run by people who actually care about what they’re doing.

Excellent location, beautiful property, very comfortable and clean, awesome staff

  • Spacious room in a great location – Jane from Australia – 16 May 2025 (9/10)

Nice spacious room in a superb location next to the Villa Borghese park

  • Ok for a short stay – Paolo from Italy – 15 May 2025 (7/10)

The property is well located at the top of via Veneto, 10 minutes away from the Spanish Steps and piazza Barberini. Access to the property is easy at all times.

What could be improved: The property, at least the side we were staying in, does not have soundproofing, we could hear the neighbours snoring and it can get very loud when other guests come and go from their rooms.
The main shower head was clogged with limescale and the secondary one did not lock in place. Not a big problem for a two days’ stay. At least the water was hot.

  • It was good as we made it so. – Antoine from Malta – 28 April 2025 (8/10)

The property is located in the best area in Rome Via Vittorio Veneto with easy access to everywhere even by walk which is the best way to experience Rome. It is extremely clean and the staff are very helpful.

What could be improved: The room was very noisy at night and one cannot rest well. Also they should include a vending machine with drinks and some snacks in common area. An electric kettle in the room would also make a difference.

  • Superb – Nina from Serbia – 16 April 2025 (9/10)

Vey nice rooms, location is excellent, the host very helpful!

It was clean and quiet. Conveniently located.

  • Fantastic property and great value in a super location – Luke from United Kingdom – 27 February 2025 (10/10)

A great sized room in a wonderful location. You are within minutes walk of 2 metro stations, although most highlights of Rome are completely accessible on foot anyway. The rooms was clean and the host was very helpful. It's not a hotel and the reception is not manned 24/7 but they were available to help by WhatsApp if necessary. The room is equipped with a lot of storage, safe, a TV and a fridge.

What could be improved: The room was very bright, it could do with blackout curtains
I would like a kettle or coffemaker in the room

  • Good – Sara from United Kingdom – 21 February 2025 (7/10)

    good location, clean and comfortable

What could be improved: Would have liked tea and coffee making facilities
