Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about RANALLI Suite? It’s tucked away on this tiny side street off Largo Carlo Goldoni – and I mean tiny, like you’ll walk past the entrance twice before you spot the discrete “int 12 scala A” marking. But that’s actually part of its charm. Once you’re inside, you realize you’ve stumbled onto something special in the heart of Spagna.

The location is honestly ridiculous in the best way possible. I’m talking a three-minute walk to the Spanish Steps – not the tourist-packed main approach, but the quieter side where locals actually cut through. Via del Corso is right there for shopping, and you can practically roll out of bed and grab morning coffee at one of those no-name bars where Romans actually drink their espresso. The Trevi Fountain? Maybe seven minutes if you’re dawdling. I stayed here in October, and while the main tourist drags were absolutely packed, this little pocket felt surprisingly peaceful – even the street noise dies down after dinner hours.

What really got me was the attention to detail that you don’t expect from most Roman hotels. The suite itself feels more like a well-appointed apartment than a hotel room, with actual space to spread out your stuff (anyone who’s stayed in Rome knows how rare that is). The bathroom has this gorgeous marble that I’m pretty sure is local stone, and the shower pressure – well, let’s just say it’s better than my apartment back home. The air conditioning actually works, which sounds basic but trust me, it’s not a given in Rome, especially in older buildings. Check-in was smooth, though fair warning – like most places in this area, there’s no real lobby to speak of, just a small reception area. But the staff clearly know the neighborhood inside and out; they gave me restaurant recommendations that weren’t in any guidebook I’d seen.

The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there. It’s not trying to be some grand luxury hotel with marble lobbies and doormen – it’s just really, really good at what it does. The WiFi is solid (worked perfectly for video calls), there’s decent soundproofing considering you’re in the center of everything, and honestly, the bed was one of those where you just sink in after a day of walking on cobblestones. If I had to nitpick, I’d say the elevator is pretty tiny, and if you’re arriving by car, well… good luck with that. This is old Rome, so parking means finding a garage several blocks away. But that’s true for basically anywhere worth staying in the historic center.

The thing is, RANALLI Suite gets that sweet spot where you feel like you’re living in Rome rather than just visiting it. You’re close enough to hit all the major sights without planning your day around transportation, but far enough from the main tourist crush that you can actually breathe. I found myself coming back in the early evening, opening the windows, and just listening to the sounds of the neighborhood – kids playing in the courtyard, someone’s nonna calling down from an upper floor, the distant hum of Vespa engines. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay by a few days, just to see what else you might discover in those winding side streets.

Reviews

  • Beautiful property, gorgeously decorated within an amazing location. Blinds in the 2nd bedroom would have made it perfec – Jean from Ireland – 25 June 2025 (9/10)

Amazing location. Right in the middle of the shopping district and few mins walk from the Spanish steps. Lots of restaurants nearby. We walked almost everywhere from the apartment. Furnishings were lovely .. felt like a chic Roman dwelling. Both parents and teenagers loved the building and it felt very safe when my husband left as there’s a hotel in the same building.

What could be improved: As most other travellers comment, the noise from the street in the early morning coupled with the lack of any blind in the 2nd bedroom made for some very early (and unwelcome) starts.

  • Had a great time in Rome. Apartment was comfortable and clean in an excellent location. – Kenny from United Kingdom – 1 June 2025 (8/10)

    Great location
    Clean
    Air conditioning

What could be improved: Noisy at night
    No blind in 2nd bedroom
    Kitchen a bit small

  • A perfect trip with our adult son to see Rome & the F1 in Imola. – Sarah from Australia – 23 May 2025 (10/10)

Beautiful interior, charming building, close to metro & attractions. very comfortable & convenient.

What could be improved: all good.

  • Exceptional – Kimberley from Australia – 15 May 2025 (10/10)

    Amazing location. Beautiful apartment.

  • Great Location and lovely apartment – Laura from United Kingdom – 3 May 2025 (8/10)

The location is fantastic, same street that leads to the Spanish Steps. Very clean and a good size for a family of 4 (teenagers) Very nicely decorated. complimentary bottle of red wine is a nice touch. Great communication from hosts.

What could be improved: The shower was very disappointing, it looked great but water pressure was near on non existent, couldn’t wash hair.
Although the location is amazing you do have to accept the noise, which is constant and very loud, you won’t get a good night sleep but we accepted this as the locations was great.
Not suitable for young children, to access the apartment is via a very small lift or 4 flights of stairs, also the windows all have balconies which are barley waist height, i was nervous with my teenagers and wouldn’t want young children near them.

  • Exceptional – Natalia from Bulgaria – 3 April 2025 (10/10)

Excellent location, cozy and luxurious apartment.

  • Good place to stay in Rome. – Amena from United Arab Emirates – 27 February 2025 (8/10)

The apartment is quite big and very nicely furnished, it had a kitchenette and all the equipment you need. The location is perfect.

What could be improved: we had an issue with the shower the first day we arrived but they resolved it the next morning, and the whole stay I couldn't connect to wifi. There is no sound isolation in the apartment you could hear all the street sounds, the host provided ear plugs.

  • Location, Apartment and owner are amazing – Hussain from Saudi Arabia – 2 November 2024 (9/10)

The owner great communicator and helpful, the apartment clean spacious and easy to locate.

What could be improved: Unfortunately during our time there was a renovation next building, and I wish they had bigger toilets.

  • Exceptional – Kawther from Egypt – 26 October 2024 (10/10)

The space is amazing with everything you need.
We had a hiccup with the digital key and communication was superb.
Super safe! And the location is beyond amazing!! Would def book this again and again and again

  • Awesome location; designer apartment. – Kd from United States – 24 August 2024 (10/10)

Excellent location. Historic building with everything inside clean and new. The air conditioning worked well to keep the apartment very comfortable, despite the August heat and humidity outside. It was perfect for a family of 4, with 2 teenagers who appreciate fine lodging.
