Raeli Hotel Siracusa Overview

So I’ve stayed at the Raeli Hotel Siracusa a handful of times now, and honestly, it’s become my go-to spot whenever I need to be near Roma Termini but don’t want to deal with the chaos right at the station. The thing is, Via Marsala is literally a three-minute walk from the main entrance of Termini, but it feels like a different world – you know what I mean? You turn that corner and suddenly you’re not dodging tourists with massive suitcases anymore.

The hotel itself is pretty straightforward – it’s a solid three-star place that doesn’t pretend to be anything fancy, which I actually appreciate. The lobby’s got this old-school Italian vibe with marble floors that echo when you walk across them (pro tip: if you’re coming back late, maybe don’t wear heels). Check-in is usually quick, though I’ve noticed they can get a bit overwhelmed during the summer months when everyone’s using Rome as a jumping-off point to Sicily – makes sense given the hotel’s name, right? The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing Instagram-worthy but definitely functional. I mean, the beds are firm in that European way, and the air conditioning works well enough, which is honestly all you need in Rome’s sticky summers.

What really sells this place for me is the location intelligence, if that makes sense. You’re close enough to Termini that you can literally hear the trains if you listen carefully, but the street itself is surprisingly quiet at night – I think because it’s mostly residential and office buildings rather than bars and restaurants. There’s a little alimentari right around the corner where the owner, this older guy named Giuseppe, makes incredible sandwiches for like four euros (he remembers your order after the second visit, which always makes me smile). The Santa Maria Maggiore basilica is maybe a seven-minute walk, and you can cut through some side streets to get to the Colosseum area without dealing with the main tourist routes. Actually, here’s something most people don’t realize – you can walk to the Baths of Diocletian in about ten minutes, and it’s never crowded there, even in peak season. The hotel staff seems to know this stuff too; they’ll give you actual directions instead of just pointing you toward the obvious spots. I will say the Wi-Fi can be spotty on the upper floors, and sometimes the elevator takes forever, but honestly, for the price point and the fact that you can stumble back from dinner in Trastevere and still catch the last metro without stress – well, it just works.

Reviews of Raeli Hotel Siracusa

  • Superb – Linda from New Zealand – 24 June 2025 (9/10)

Hotel right by Roma Termini for trains, buses, metro yet quiet. Good breakfast. Luggage storage. Pleasant staff.

What could be improved: We found it hard to find as we were looking for Hotel Raeli but it was Hotel Siracusa on all the signs. Fortunately the doormat said Raeli so we found it eventually. The plumbing from the next door room was clearly heard from our bedroom.

  • A clean and nice 3-star hotel, perfect if you are looking for something close to Roma Termini. – Titte from Finland – 18 June 2025 (9/10)

The location besides Roma Termini is perfect when you want a transfer hotel just for the night.

  • Superb – Imad from Palestinian Territory – 15 June 2025 (9/10)

Very good, but the condition is very weak

  • Great location, excellent breakfast. A few issues need fixing. – Roger from Australia – 6 June 2025 (7/10)

The breakfast was excellent. The location, next to the Terminii was perfect except that it was noisy at night and our air conditioning did not work so we had the window open. The room was comfortable.

What could be improved: The lift was fine but the door is dangerous, I was bruised and cut by it as it closed, the sensor was not set appropriately.

  • Good – Wai from United States – 17 May 2025 (7/10)

No air conditioning. Talked to the service counter and changed another room. Finally a technician who we asked to check the air conditioning, stated that there is no air conditioning (we stayed for 2 nights in the second week of May). He mentioned that the hotel will have air conditioning during summer only. I surprised to know that as the hotel did not mention on the web site description and the front desk unwilling to mention when we asked. He even asked us to open the window for cool fresh air. However it was very noise during night time. The heater in the bathroom is still open and we could not turn it off. Therefore the room was very hot.

    So far the hotel:
    Good location near the Termini
    Staffs are friendly
Breakfast have a lot of choice

What could be improved: No air conditioning
No discount or breakfast compliment for on air conditioning
Heater in the bathroom cannot adjust to turn off

  • Great location & staff were very helpful – Michelle from Australia – 17 May 2025 (9/10)

Great location right next to the railway station. Nice big room

What could be improved: It is a bit old.

  • We were very impressed with the hotel and the staff thank you all – Christine from Australia – 17 May 2025 (8/10)

So close to the station which made getting around easy. Staff were great. Breakfast was delish

What could be improved: The only issue for us was the shower. Very small and awkward.

  • Convenient stay! – Jennifer from United States – 9 May 2025 (8/10)

Great location to train station! Comfortable bed and clean bathroom facilities

What could be improved: A little noisey at night if you keep the window open since being by the train station

  • All good, no complaints. Happy with the everything – Chandrea from South Africa – 5 April 2025 (7/10)

The luggage store room, the breakfast room and lounge access while waiting for my flight after checkout

What could be improved: No shower

  • Value clean property to stay in Rome – Francis from United Kingdom – 7 February 2025 (8/10)

Nice clean and tidy place- located in front of main train station
