Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Raeli Hotel Floridia on Via Montebello, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place this close to Termini Station. You know how that area can be, right? But honestly, this little spot surprised me in the best way possible.
The thing about staying here is that you’re literally a five-minute walk from Rome’s main train station, which sounds awful until you realize how incredibly practical it is. I mean, you can drag your suitcase from the platform to your room without breaking a sweat, and if you’re doing day trips to Florence or Naples, you’ll actually thank yourself for picking this location. The street itself – Via Montebello – is one of those typical Roman side streets where locals actually live and work, not just tourist central. There’s this little bakery around the corner that opens at 6 AM (I may have developed a slight cornetto addiction), and the evening passeggiata happens right outside your window. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, nothing fancy but you get good AC (crucial in summer, trust me), decent WiFi, and surprisingly comfortable beds. The staff actually remembers your name after a day or two, which is refreshing.
What really won me over was how the hotel sits in this sweet spot between convenience and authenticity. Sure, you’ll hear some street noise – it’s Rome, not a countryside retreat – but it quiets down after 10 PM, and honestly, those sounds become part of the charm. The morning coffee at the front desk is proper Italian espresso, not some watered-down tourist version, and the guy working reception genuinely knows the neighborhood. He told me about this incredible family-run trattoria on Via Gioberti that I never would have found otherwise. The whole Esquilino district around here is actually pretty fascinating – very multicultural, lots of authentic restaurants, and way less crowded than the areas around major monuments. You can walk to the Colosseum in about 20 minutes if you’re feeling energetic, or hop on the metro at Termini and be anywhere in the city center within 15 minutes. For the price point and that 8-rating it’s got, the Raeli delivers exactly what you’d want from a Roman base camp – comfortable, practical, and genuinely Italian without trying too hard to be boutique-y or trendy.

Reviews
Staff was the greatest – Ferguson from United States – 24 June 2025 (9/10)
Staff and location
What could be improved: The bathroom. It is a serious accident waiting to happen. The tub, toilet and bidet were crammed into a small space. It would be very easy to slip in the tub while trying to take a shower and fall and hit your head on either the toilet or the bidet.Good hotel with great value for money – Lukáš from Czech Republic – 18 June 2025 (8/10)
The location was great (close to Metro, close to Termini station, supermarket “Conrad” only few streets away).
The room itself was small but comfy, with a working fridge.
Beds were great, I was able to enjoy good sleep.
Staff was really helpful and nice.
Complementary toiletries were amazing (I forgot my toothbrush at home but got one from the hotel).
The rooms were very clean (cleaned daily) and out towels got changed every day.
Overally good money/value deal.
What could be improved: Some furniture looked a bit older.
The breakfast was 14€ per person, so I did not get the breakfast (too expensive).Amazing city break for me and the missus, the hotel was outstanding and makes us feel like we’re at home – Ricardo from United Kingdom – 17 May 2025 (9/10)
