Hotel Description

You know what surprised me about the Radisson Blu GHR Rome? It’s actually tucked away in this quiet residential pocket of Parioli that feels miles from the tourist chaos, even though you’re literally a ten-minute walk from Villa Borghese. I mean, Via Chelini isn’t exactly a street most visitors stumble upon – it’s where Romans with money actually live, all leafy and lined with those beautiful early 20th-century buildings that somehow survived the city’s messier development phases.

The hotel itself has this understated elegance that works because it doesn’t try too hard. The lobby’s got clean lines and plenty of natural light, but honestly, what sold me was stepping out onto that terrace area – you can actually hear birds instead of Vespas for once. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star: well-designed, comfortable beds, and those little touches that matter when you’re dealing with jet lag (like blackout curtains that actually black out). The bathrooms are spacious by Roman standards, which, let’s be real, isn’t saying much, but the water pressure’s decent and the fixtures feel quality. I noticed the soundproofing is pretty good too – essential when you’re staying anywhere in Rome where the concept of “quiet hours” is more of a suggestion.

Here’s the thing though – the location is both the hotel’s biggest selling point and something to consider depending on what kind of trip you’re planning. If you want to stumble out of bed and be at the Colosseum in five minutes, this isn’t your place. But if you appreciate being able to walk through Villa Borghese in the morning before the crowds hit, or if you want to grab aperitivo at one of the local spots where you won’t hear English at every table, then you’ll get it. There’s a metro stop about seven minutes away (Castro Pretorio area), and honestly, the bus connections are better than you’d expect – Romans actually use them in this part of town. The staff seems to genuinely know the neighborhood too, which makes a difference when you’re asking about where to grab lunch or which route to take to avoid the worst of the traffic. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s the kind of place that does what it promises without drama, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need in a city that can be overwhelming. It’s not going to be the story you tell about your Rome trip, but it’ll be the reason you actually enjoyed it.

Reviews

  • I would like to thank all Receptionist especially Jessica who is always have a lovely smile – Muhanned from Kuwait – 2 July 2025 (9/10)

The staff were very welcoming and very supportive . The breakfast was good.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Good – Agnieszka from United Kingdom – 29 June 2025 (7/10)

Really nice hotel, great service great food

What could be improved: The sitcom wasn’t working really well – get to hit in the room

  • Very good hotel in a great location and very friendly staff – Dr from Croatia – 27 June 2025 (9/10)

The breakfast was solid, standard for a hotel of this category, but not overly inventive. There were no real jams, like honey in a honeycomb, but that's obviously overly imaginative… no trace of Italian cuisine.
There is an excellent shuttle that runs regularly from the hotel to the city center.

What could be improved: All night long, some hooligans chased a motorcycle without an exhaust. And another stupid driver of a sports car kept screeching his tires and there was no sleep. There are no police to regulate this. A homegrown Roman story…
But the hotel is not to blame for this…

  • Nice western hotel in Rome – Rick from United States – 20 June 2025 (9/10)

There’s a nice Western hotel had a good amount of space. Nice pillows beds were good.

What could be improved: Location you would think is good but it’s not great if you’re gonna be doing the Downtown attraction area such as the Colosseum, the fountain, Spanish steps, the Vatican. It’s a little bit of a hike like a 15 minute cab ride. Only other complaint we had was the shower was difficult to work Wednesday. Stay constant Aunt temperature water pressure is pretty weak and that’s overall very nice. They really need to get some smart TVs with Netflix

  • Very good – Ke from Singapore – 2 June 2025 (8/10)

    Close to subway station

What could be improved: Constant problem with electronic key and noise from ouside cars and train passing

  • Superb – Kai from Hong Kong – 8 May 2025 (9/10)

room are spacous, every things are clean and neat.

  • Superb – Lalita from United States – 27 April 2025 (9/10)

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. Everything was clean and well-maintained, and the rooftop restaurant was a highlight — such a great atmosphere and delicious food. The staff were incredibly accommodating, even replacing the sofas with two single beds upon our request. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!

What could be improved: The only downside is that the hotel is about 20 minutes’ drive from the city center. You’ll need to book their shuttle service early (it fills up quickly) or use a taxi, though there’s also a train station nearby for easy access.

  • Good Hotel, but? – Alan from United Kingdom – 22 April 2025 (9/10)

Room was excellent; clean and bed made up every day, enough towels. Breakfast was good, but ended up paying for breakfast didnt get as had to leave before started for return flight ; the restaurants were good and food up stairs was excellent; front of house staff really helpful, explaining everything and trying make sure everything OK for you. Only location was poor. Well outside Rome itself and off the underground route. Had to change once. Not biggest hassle but hassle when local train not running when needing it as it did twice.

What could be improved: Only location. Could have been nearer city for me.

  • Superb – Sotnicenko from Latvia – 21 April 2025 (9/10)

    Clean, good atmosphere, friendly people

  • Good – Monica from United States – 15 April 2025 (8/10)

I like the hotel and the staff, all of them very nice, I love the buffet and restaurant areas, shuttle is super helpful, what I don’t like if the internet service, which was working but only for the phone, not able to connect to my laptop , even when I tried many times , another thing was the water was only for the first day and when I asked they informed me that is only available for members, bottle of water should be complementary for every guess, we also used the gym , firs night was nice and clean but second was not
