Piccola Navona Roof Garden Overview

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places around Navona, but Piccola Navona Roof Garden actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. First off, Via de’ Baullari is this narrow street that most tourists rush past on their way to the Pantheon – which, by the way, is literally a three-minute walk from your room. But here’s the thing: once you’re inside this little 4-star gem, you forget you’re in the middle of one of Rome’s busiest neighborhoods.

The roof garden is honestly what sold me on this place. I mean, you can sip your morning espresso while looking out over terracotta rooftops, and there’s something almost ridiculously romantic about it – even if you’re just checking emails in your pajamas. The rooms themselves are what I’d call thoughtfully compact (not cramped, there’s a difference), and they’ve managed to squeeze in some genuinely nice touches without making it feel cluttered. The air conditioning actually works, which… well, if you’ve spent a Roman summer in a budget hotel, you know that’s not always guaranteed.

What really impressed me was how the staff seemed to know the neighborhood like locals – not just the obvious tourist spots. When I mentioned I was looking for a good aperitivo place that wasn’t packed with Americans taking selfies, they pointed me toward this little enoteca on Via del Governo Vecchio that I never would have found otherwise. And honestly, the soundproofing is better than you’d expect for a building this old. Sure, you’ll hear the occasional Vespa or late-night conversation drifting up from the street, but it’s more atmospheric than annoying. The area does get pretty busy during peak tourist hours – basically 10 AM to 6 PM – but early mornings and evenings have this lovely, almost village-like quiet to them. One small thing that bugged me: the elevator is tiny, so if you’re traveling with big suitcases, you might be taking the stairs. But given that you’re staying in a historic building steps from the Pantheon, Campo de’ Fiori, and some of the best restaurants in Rome, that 9.2 rating makes complete sense. This isn’t the kind of place where you’ll spend much time in your room anyway – you’ll be too busy exploring everything that’s practically on your doorstep.

When in Rome, and you must rest,
We found this place to be the best.
The gentleman at the desk was an amazing host.
He mapped the sights we would enjoy the most.
He showed us our room, classy and clean,
But the very best was yet to be seen.
For on the table next to the bed, champagne and treats,
    No more could be said.
    So as for us,
    We give it a TEN.
We can hardly wait to visit again.

Best Location in Rome. We were speaking on whatsapp with Alberto before we arrived and he was wonderfull. During our stay we met the lovely Emily and jocked that Alberto was a character she invented. Finally we met Alberto in person and can only say that this crew of two are one of the best hosts there is. That makes a the stay great more than everything.

Alberto is a great host, very professional and dedicated to details. The location between piazza Navona and Campo dei Fiori is perfect for visiting the historical center of Rome. The facility is clean. The roof top is a great “window” to Rome.
