Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places around Pantheon and Navona, but Pellegrino 86 caught me off guard in the best way. You know how most “apartments” in Rome’s center are basically glorified hotel rooms with a hot plate? Well, this actually feels like someone’s actual flat that they’ve decided to rent out. The building sits right in the thick of things – I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Pantheon’s crowds, but somehow once you’re inside, it’s surprisingly quiet.
The thing about this area is that tourists think they need to stay right on Piazza Navona itself, but honestly? You’ll pay double and deal with street noise until 2 AM. Pellegrino 86 gets you all the access without the chaos. I could slip out for morning coffee at that little place on Via del Governo Vecchio (locals call it “the one with the good cornetti”) before the tour groups even figured out where they were. And here’s something nobody tells you about the Navona area – grocery shopping is actually doable if you know where to look. There’s a decent Conad about five minutes away, which saved me from eating tourist-trap pizza every night.
The flat itself is… well, it’s solidly 3-star, and I mean that as a compliment. Everything works – the shower has proper pressure (miracle in Rome), the kitchen’s got real plates and glasses, not plastic nonsense, and the bed was actually comfortable. No fancy marble bathrooms or Instagram-worthy terraces, but you know what? The windows open wide enough to let in that perfect Roman evening air, and you can hear the fountain sounds drifting over from Navona when things quiet down after dinner.
Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – met the guy at the building, got actual keys (not those finicky card things), and he knew enough English to point out the good stuff nearby. The building’s old, obviously, so there’s some creaking and the elevator is… let’s call it “vintage European charm.” But that’s part of staying in the real Rome, isn’t it?
What really sold me was the morning routine I fell into. I’d grab espresso at the bar downstairs (yes, there’s actually a proper Italian bar in the building), then wander through the maze of streets toward Campo de’ Fiori for the market. Most hotel guests never figure out these little rhythms – they’re too busy following their tour guide’s umbrella around. From Pellegrino 86, you can live Rome instead of just visiting it, at least for a few days. And at this price point, in this neighborhood? That’s honestly pretty hard to find these days.

Great location and very good price, apartment is clean and comfortable beds, quite no noises, good light isolation, spacious, kitchen is well equipped. Hot water is good.
What could be improved: Wi fi don't work (connected without Internet), very dark in the coridor no lamp, difficult can't see the door or steps, need to put light. Entry is very creepy. Host was only communicating upon check-in, then just ignored all requests. Would be nice to have at list soap and shower gel. No iron!Perfect location. Good service. – Hüsrev from Turkey – 3 October 2023 (9/10)

What could be improved: Building just a little bit old. But if you stay only for sleep like us it does not matter.Good location and everything you need in a room – Carmel from Israel – 10 September 2023 (9/10)

What could be improved: NothingPerfect location, with very accommodating host! Highly recommend this place! – Kassandra from Canada – 14 June 2023 (9/10)
Location was perfect! Within walking distance of all major landmarks and tourist sites. There were cafe's and restaurants right around the corner, as well as a small square that held an occasional market!
What could be improved: The only issue we had was so small it seems silly to even write it down. The air-conditioning units in the apartment leaked so we couldn't use them. But we just opened the windows instead so it really wasn't a problem! It is a great place to stay. – Harrys from Greece – 14 April 2023 (8/10)
It was clean, it had everything a household needs, it was near to many monuments and generally the location was perfect.
