You know what struck me first about this place? The name actually tells you everything – you’re literally staying on one of Rome’s most elegant riverside walkways, and honestly, I don’t think enough people realize how special that is. The Passeggiata di Ripetta runs right along the Tiber, and while everyone’s fighting for overpriced hotels near the Colosseum, you’re tucked into this genuinely Roman neighborhood that feels like a secret the locals are keeping to themselves.

The apartment itself is solid – I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind with flashy amenities, but it’s got that lived-in Italian elegance that’s so much better than sterile hotel rooms. The 4-star rating feels about right; everything works, it’s clean, and you’ve got proper space to spread out after long days of walking on ancient cobblestones (your feet will thank you for having somewhere to actually relax). What really gets me is the location though – you’re in Spagna, which technically sounds touristy, but this stretch is different. You’ll wake up and walk maybe three minutes to grab coffee at bars where the baristas actually recognize regulars, not tourist traps charging €5 for an espresso.

Here’s something I wish someone had told me before my first stay in this area: the Passeggiata di Ripetta connects you to everything without feeling like you’re in the thick of tourist chaos. You can walk along the river to Castel Sant’Angelo – honestly one of the most underrated strolls in Rome – or cut inland toward Via del Corso when you need to get somewhere quickly. The Spanish Steps are close enough that you’ll probably end up there whether you planned to or not, but you’re not dealing with the street noise and crowds right outside your window. I’ve stayed here during both shoulder season and peak summer, and while Rome gets pretty intense in July, this particular street stays relatively sane because it’s not a major thoroughfare. You get the sound of the river at night instead of constant Vespa engines, which… well, it’s still Rome, so there are still plenty of Vespas, but you know what I mean. The 8.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not perfect, but it delivers on what matters most: authentic Roman living in a spot that lets you actually experience the city rather than just survive it.

  Easy communication with the host regarding the keys. Day before arrival, we have communicated by text messages to agree on the time.
  The apartment is very spacious and quiet. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary amenities. The bathrooms are spacious and clean.
  I loved that the apartment was decorated in the "old fashion" kind of way…which fit the apartments personality perfectly. The person who met us when we were collecting keys was very friendly and gave us a lot of great recommendations for awesome restaurants!

  Brilliant location in a lovely building. Safe, welcoming and pleasant neighbourhood with lots of great restaurants / bars / cafes and a handy little supermarket round the corner. Easy walk to all the main sights. The bedding and towels were fresh and clean, the beds were very comfortable and the apartment was well equipped. Host was very accomodating re arrival time and his recommendations for places to eat were fantastic.
