Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Paola A Trastevere? The location is absolutely perfect if you actually want to experience Rome like a local, not just tick off tourist boxes. It’s right on Viale Trastevere – which sounds busy, and honestly, it can be during the day – but you’re literally a two-minute walk from those narrow cobblestone streets where Romans actually eat dinner. I mean, forget the touristy spots near the Pantheon; you’ll stumble out of this hotel and find yourself at places like Da Enzo al 29 or Glass Hostaria without even trying.

The building itself has this sort of understated elegance that I really appreciated. It’s a proper 4-star place (and that 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’re there), but it doesn’t feel stuffy or overly formal. The rooms are well-designed – I’m talking actual thought put into the layout, not just pretty pictures. What really got me was the attention to sound insulation, because let’s be real, Rome is loud. You’d expect street noise being right on Viale Trastevere, but honestly, once you close those windows, it’s surprisingly peaceful. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how many hotels just hand you generic tourist maps. These guys will tell you which morning market to hit (Mercato di San Cosimato is literally around the corner) and – more importantly – when to go before the crowds descend.

Here’s what I loved most: you’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters, but you’re staying in a real neighborhood. Trastevere has this amazing energy after dark, especially around Via del Moro and Piazza di San Calisto, but during the day it’s got this authentic Roman rhythm. You’ll hear actual Italian conversations, not just tour groups. Plus, getting to the Vatican is ridiculously easy – just hop on the 8 tram that runs right outside, though honestly, walking along the Tiber is prettier if you’ve got the time. The hotel feels like it gets this balance between being accessible and being genuinely Roman. I stayed here in late spring, and the morning light coming through those windows while you can hear the city waking up… well, it’s exactly what you hope Rome will feel like.

The b&b is in a great location in Trastevere, just a short stroll from all the bars and restaurants. Another 10-15 minute walk you are in the centre of Rome. Nice staff, clean rooms with a comfy bed. There was a kettle with tea & coffee and a wee fridge, handy for water. They serve a continental breakfast in your room anytime between 830-10 which was nice – tea and coffee of your choice, cheese, salami / ham, warm toasted bread rolls with jam and Nutella, some cake, water and juice, plenty to set you up for a day exploring Rome. We got checked in early when we arrived at 1pm, it was no problem. The building itself is really nice with an old 1920s lift which is delightful. Would recommend this B&B and the area of Trastevere if you are visiting Rome.

The location was very centralized to Trastevere and helped the area be walkable. Not only to Trastevere but also to Campo Di Fiori and the Jewish Ghetto. The rooms were so clean and the windows seemed to be sound proof (partially) since we got minimal street noise for being on a main road!

Loved the location. The quaintness of the building. The hospitality
