Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around the Pantheon area, and honestly, most of them are either tourist traps or way overpriced for what you get. But Pantheon Suites Rome 2 on Via dei Barbieri? This one actually gets it right. The location is just… well, it’s stupid good. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Pantheon, but here’s the thing everyone misses – you’re tucked away on this narrow side street that the tour groups don’t really discover. Via dei Barbieri runs between the main tourist drag and the quieter residential blocks, so you get the best of both worlds without the constant foot traffic noise that’ll keep you up at night.

The building itself has that worn-in Roman charm that you can’t fake – thick stone walls that actually keep the summer heat out (trust me, this matters in July), and the kind of shutters that block out the morning light when you’ve had too much Barolo the night before. It’s a solid 3-star place, which I mean in the best way possible. No pretentious lobby with marble everything, just clean, comfortable rooms that feel like someone’s well-maintained apartment. The staff actually knows the neighborhood – they’ll tell you to skip the overpriced cafe on the corner and walk thirty seconds further to where the locals get their morning espresso for half the price. The suites are roomier than you’d expect for central Rome, with enough space to actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it for a week.

What really sold me on this place is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re close enough to walk to Trastevere for dinner (about fifteen minutes through some genuinely lovely side streets), but you’re also right there when the Pantheon area gets that magical early morning light before the crowds show up. I’d get up around 7 AM, grab a cornetto from the bakery two blocks down on Via del Governo Vecchio, and have the whole Pantheon square practically to myself. That 8.3 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Rome, but it nails all the things that actually matter when you’re exploring the city. The beds are comfortable, the WiFi works, and you can walk to about 80% of what you came to Rome to see. Plus, and this is crucial, it’s on a street where you can sometimes actually find a taxi when you need one.

Reviews

  • Great choice! – Lauren from Australia – 1 November 2024 (9/10)

The staff were great, very helpful, we ended up extending an extra night and the were prompt to respond. The location was very central and walkable in every direction. The neighbourhood was lively enough but didn't keep you up at night. Very secure building and room access, the bed was comfortable and great shower.

What could be improved: There was no freezer compartment in the mini bar which I needed for icepacks for medication post departure. There was no lift for our large bags up to the second floor.

  • Perfect location. Comfortable room. – Irmgard from United Kingdom – 17 September 2024 (9/10)

    Perfect location
Nice comfy en suite room. Great communal kitchen facility. Finding bubbly was a nice touch and perfect start to our stay.

  • Perfect, stay in a location close to the old town – Bekhruz from Germany – 2 December 2023 (9/10)

Great central location, modern amenities, large bed and helpful host

What could be improved: Breakfast wasn’t sufficient (no milk free options)

  • An enjoyable stay in Rome. – Marjory from Australia – 12 September 2023 (7/10)

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Nice place to sleep in Rome. – Dov from Israel – 13 July 2023 (8/10)

The location is in the center and i could walk to the main site in Rome.
Every thing is near we have grousery shop near the room.

What could be improved: The room is very compact lake of public facilities.

  • Very good – Camilla from United Kingdom – 18 May 2023 (8/10)

    great location

What could be improved: the shower didn’t drain properly so wasn’t easy to get washed properly

  • Pleasant – Maria from Malta – 17 February 2023 (8/10)

Excellent location. Walking distance from the bus stop, shops, restaurants and landmarks. The breakfast was simple but sufficient and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Our host was very responsive and incredibly helpful, he even gave us a list of all the local places we should visit and showed us how to get around which was great!

What could be improved: There is no elevator and the room is on the second floor which is fine if you're travelling light. Also, they were working on the facade of the building so we couldn't open the window shutters which was a bummer since we got no view or natural light.

  • Good – Fiona from Australia – 25 October 2022 (7/10)

good location, breakfast at the nearby cafe.

What could be improved: the entrance was a bit grimy but once you're in the room it was fine. Noisy on Saturday night
