Hotel Description

You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places near the Pantheon, and most of them are either tourist traps or cramped little rooms where you can hear every conversation from the street. Pantheon Suites Rome 1 actually gets it right, though – it’s tucked away on Via dei Barbieri, which is this narrow side street that most people walk right past when they’re rushing between the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. The building itself has that worn Roman elegance thing going on, where the entrance looks almost unremarkable until you step inside and realize someone put real thought into this place.

The suites live up to their name, honestly. I mean, you’re not getting a palace, but there’s actual space to spread out your stuff without tripping over your suitcase every time you want to use the bathroom. The design feels deliberately understated – sort of modern Roman, if that makes sense – with these beautiful old stone details they kept from the original building mixed with contemporary fixtures that actually work. What I loved most was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re literally steps from one of the busiest tourist areas in Rome. The windows are proper thick glass, and Via dei Barbieri doesn’t get the late-night foot traffic that the main drags do. You’ll still hear the occasional Vespa (it’s Rome, after all), but it’s more like ambient city sounds than the chaos you’d expect.

The location thing is where this place really shines, though not in the obvious ways. Sure, you can walk to the Pantheon in about two minutes, but what’s better is that you’re positioned perfectly for the stuff locals actually do. There’s this little alimentari around the corner on Via del Governo Vecchio where you can grab proper coffee and cornetti in the morning – way better than the tourist cafés by the Pantheon that charge three times as much. The neighborhood gets this amazing golden light in the early evening when the crowds thin out, and you can actually appreciate how incredible it is to be staying in the heart of ancient Rome. Check-in was smooth (they seem to have their systems figured out), and the staff had good recommendations that weren’t just the standard tourist circuit. Parking is basically impossible, but that’s true anywhere in Centro Storico – if you’re driving, there’s a garage about a ten-minute walk away that won’t completely destroy your budget. The whole experience feels like you’re staying somewhere that respects both the history of the neighborhood and the reality of being a modern traveler, which is honestly harder to find than you’d think in this part of Rome.

Reviews

  • A great stay! Perfect location and comfortable room – Nina from Denmark – 30 June 2025 (9/10)

We had a great stay here it is perfectly located to be able to walk almost anywhere while also being a quiet area. Everything was clean and the room has everything you would need for a short stay (including aircon which was great after a day of exploring Rome in summer!) Check in/out was seamless and we were given lots of recommendations which were very helpful!

  • Very happy – Emilee from Australia – 29 June 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: Shower drain didn’t flow

  • Lovely, clean, quiet space located easy walking distance to everything we wanted to see. – Rebecca from Canada – 22 June 2025 (9/10)

Location. Perfect jump off spot to many attractions. Quiet street. Loved the breakfast. Coffee and beautiful, tasty pastry and juice to start the day. Very clean.

What could be improved: A bit small but it’s Rome! Not really a complaint. Just an observation.

  • Clean centrally located gem – Carolyn from United States – 3 June 2025 (10/10)

Central location within walking distance of major sites in Rome. Clean, comfortable beds, beautiful bathroom sink. It was nice to have a common area. Nice breakfasts at the cafe down the road.

What could be improved: The room was small, 3 of us with luggage was tight.

  • Great city, great location, great accommodation – Tracey from United Kingdom – 16 May 2025 (10/10)

Great location, 20-30 walk to most attractions. Fabulous spacious room with funky decor and very comfy. Great communication with Matteo, who met us there for checkin, the day before we travelled and on the day. Lots of info and recommendations given for the area too.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Fantastic location and brilliant room – Rachel from United Kingdom – 29 March 2025 (9/10)

The location couldn’t be beaten- 10 minutes walk to most of the central Rome tourist attractions! Communication regarding check in was clear and responses were prompt. Matteo met us to check in and showed us how everything worked.

The breakfast of a hot drink and a croissant was a great start to each day. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in Rome!

  • Perfect – Alicja from United Kingdom – 3 March 2025 (9/10)

Very good super clean and amazing location

What could be improved: Breakfast could be better but it’s a great start to the day

  • Superb – Alexandros from Greece – 26 February 2025 (9/10)

Cozy place in a quite road. Excellent location, near all main places to visit.

What could be improved: Light humid smell at the entrance.

  • Exceptional – Kazmierczak from Ireland – 23 February 2025 (10/10)

Lovely place to stay, we got loads of tips and recommendations when we arrived. Very good location and a lovely small bar right under the apartment with lovely drinks

  • Apartment not Hotel! – Kirsty from United Kingdom – 5 February 2025 (8/10)

The location is central to all tourist attractions.
Matteo met us and explained the door codes etc. He left us a map explaining how far places were and suggestions for places to eat and visit.
Our room was on the second floor, fridge and coffee maker supplied.
The room was modern, clean and well presented.
Large double/king size bed was comfy and pillows were plump.
The walk in shower was lovely and after a few minutes was very hot.
    Plenty of wardrobe space.
There is a kitchen on the third floor with a kettle and sink.
Breakfast is by way of a voucher for the local cafe, one based either end of the alleyway. We opted for the one overlooking Argentina square which was nice. You get a choice of pastry, a coffee and a glass of juice.
We did have drinks at the other (T's abar) in the evening, Marco is a character!

This is NOT a hotel or guest house, it is an apartment.

What could be improved: The room was a bit dark, no view (only a large drainpipe) from the window.
Make sure you have the correct change for the tourist tax as we paid €40 and no change was given.
