Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the Pantheon Inn? It’s actually on this quiet little street – Via Santa Caterina Da Siena – that most tourists completely miss, even though you’re literally a two-minute walk from one of Rome’s most famous monuments. I mean, I’ve walked past that narrow entrance dozens of times without even noticing it was there, tucked between a tiny café and what looks like someone’s apartment building.
The thing about staying this close to the Pantheon is that you get to experience it at different times of day, which honestly makes all the difference. Early morning, before the tour groups arrive, you can grab a proper Italian coffee from the bar downstairs (they do a decent cornetto too) and walk over to see the ancient dome without fighting through selfie sticks. The hotel itself feels more like a renovated palazzo than your typical four-star place – the lobby’s got these original stone details that they’ve kept, and the rooms are smaller than what Americans might expect, but that’s just Rome. The bathrooms are actually well-designed though, with good water pressure, which isn’t always a given in this part of the city.
What I really appreciate is how the staff seems to know the neighborhood inside and out. They’ll tell you which gelato place on Via del Pantheon is worth the slightly higher price (it’s Giolitti’s offshoot, not the touristy one on the corner), and they know that if you want to avoid the crowds at Trevi Fountain, you should go around 7 AM or after 9 PM. The rooms facing the street can get a bit noisy – not from traffic, since it’s mostly pedestrian, but from people talking as they walk to dinner. Romans eat late, so you’ll hear conversations until around 11 PM most nights. Ask for a room facing the courtyard if you’re a light sleeper. The air conditioning works well, which matters more than you’d think during those sticky Roman summers when even the locals complain about the heat. I stayed there in September and it was perfect – still warm enough to sit outside at restaurants, but not so hot that you’re miserable walking around during the day. The location means you can duck back to your room for a quick shower and outfit change before dinner, which is something I always end up doing in Rome anyway.

Very good – David from United States – 2 July 2025 (8/10)
Great location. Comfortable and quiet room. Air conditioning was adequate in a heat wave.
What could be improved: There were problems with the elevator. The main problem was that it requires people using it to close two sets of doors when exiting. If people forget, the elevator remains stuck until someone finds it and closes the door.It was absolutely perfect and I highly recommend the Pantheon Inn! – Åsa from Sweden – 24 June 2025 (9/10)
Absolute fantastic location, in the heart of Rome. Very cosy and clean rooms, and the breakfast was generous! Wifi was super, and the roof top terrace amazing where you could bring your own drinks! Everyone of the staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel!!
A brilliant Hotel in the heart of Rome. – Michael from United Kingdom – 21 June 2025 (8/10)
We had a room on the 4th floor and we had access to the roof terrace. That was amazing we sat up there and had lunch with a bottle of wine everyday. We also used the roof terrace after our evenings out to just to listen to the sounds of Rome. The property was very quaint and peaceful behind those big doors.
