It’s tucked on Via di Santa Maria dell’Anima – which I’ll admit, I butchered the pronunciation at first – but the location is absolutely perfect if you want to feel like you’re actually living in Rome rather than just visiting it.

The building itself has this authentic palazzo feel without being stuffy about it. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Pantheon, but here’s the thing everyone misses – you’re also right around the corner from some of the best local spots that tourists never find. There’s this tiny wine bar called Il Sorpasso just down the street where locals actually hang out, and honestly, I ended up there three nights in a row because the woman at the front desk (super helpful, by the way) mentioned it in passing. The suites are spacious – like, actually spacious, not “European spacious” – and the view from the upper floors… well, let’s just say I spent way too much time on that little balcony with my morning coffee watching the neighborhood wake up. You’ll hear church bells instead of traffic, which is pretty magical when you’re used to city noise.

What really got me was the attention to detail that you don’t expect from a four-star place. The bathroom marble actually feels expensive, the bed linens are the kind you want to ask where they bought them, and – this might sound weird – but the lighting is perfect for getting ready in the morning. I’ve stayed at fancier places where you can’t see your face in the mirror without a flashlight. The staff treats you like they’re genuinely happy you’re there, not like you’re interrupting their day, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re trying to figure out the best route to avoid tourist crowds at the Trevi Fountain. They’ll tell you to go at 7 AM, and they’re absolutely right. One small thing though – if you’re a light sleeper, the piazza can get a bit lively on weekend nights, but honestly, it’s part of the charm. You’re in the heart of Rome, not a suburban Holiday Inn. The 8.8 rating makes complete sense to me because this place gets all the important stuff right without trying too hard to impress you with unnecessary bells and whistles.
