Hotel Description
So I stumbled onto Ovidio Suite pretty much by accident – well, honestly, I was looking for something close to the Vatican without the tourist circus that usually comes with it. And you know what? This place totally delivers on that front. It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Prati, which is one of those neighborhoods that feels authentically Roman without being stuffy about it. The building itself has that understated elegance thing going on – you walk past these beautiful old facades and then boom, there’s your hotel entrance. No flashy signs or doormen in ridiculous uniforms, just a simple, clean entrance that somehow feels more expensive than places trying too hard.
The thing about Prati is that it’s actually where Romans live and work, not just where they take tourists. I mean, you’ve got the Vatican literally a ten-minute walk away, but you’re also surrounded by proper Italian cafes where the barista remembers your order, little family-run shops, and that amazing covered market on Via Cola di Rienzo – which, by the way, is perfect for grabbing fresh stuff if you want to eat in your room. The metro stop at Lepanto is super close, so you can get anywhere in the city without dealing with the crowds at the main Vatican station. And parking – well, it’s Rome, so parking is always a nightmare, but this area is definitely more manageable than the historic center.
What really got me about Ovidio Suite was how they’ve managed to feel boutique-y without being pretentious. The rooms are spacious by European standards (and I mean actually spacious, not just “well, it’s bigger than a closet” spacious), and everything feels fresh and well-maintained. The staff genuinely seems to care about what they’re doing – they’re not just going through the motions, they’ll actually sit down and draw you a little map or call ahead to restaurants. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and the place was buzzing but not chaotic. The building stays surprisingly quiet at night, which is huge if you’re dealing with jet lag or just want to actually sleep. Honestly, the 9-point rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just works the way it should. You’ll pay a bit more than some places, but you’re getting that sweet spot of being close to major sights while feeling like you’re staying in a real neighborhood. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the whole area smells like proper Italian coffee and fresh bread in the mornings instead of exhaust fumes and tourist sweat.

Great location for our quick trip with a large group! – Jennifer from United States – 16 June 2025 (10/10)
We rented this suite for our party of 10 (5 adults, 5 'adult' children 17-25) and it was amazing! 5 bedrooms, 5 1/2 baths plus a small kitchen area fully accommodated our group. Check-in was easy (keypad entry, which was great when our group split up during the day). The location was walkable to Vatican (so close!) and Trevi Fountain. We took a taxi to Colosseum just to save our energy and time, but you could walk it. Being on the 2nd floor, we did not have any problems with street noise. Great blackout shades kept the rooms dark. The rooms were clean, air conditioning worked very well and it was stocked with basic toiletries (we had to buy more toilet paper but that was expected). Multiple hair dryers included and a fan in each room (in addition to the cool air conditioning). There was a washing machine and drying rack. Could not be happier with our stay.
What could be improved: Not the host's fault…our first night there were two brief periods (no more than a minute each) when the power went out. This seemed to be affecting the entire block. When we contacted the host, he immediately responded and asked that we let him know if the problem persisted, but we never had another issue during our three night stay.Fab location- great base to see Rome for a group! – Sheila from Ireland – 21 March 2025 (9/10)
Location!!! Near Vatican, restaurants, cafes and great shopping. 5x double rooms all ensuite. Lovely concierge in building – great to be able to leave luggage- and host Luca very efficient in organising everything.
What could be improved: Kitchen/communal area very small but it didn’t matter us as we were out all the time.We were in 10 person family vacation trip, this was the best choice to stay all together and at the same time with priva – Bruno from United States – 2 November 2024 (10/10)
It was the best choice! I love this property!
5 big rooms each one with bathrooms, private and convenient for large families!
Location, location, location!!! 10 minutes walking to Vatican, stores and restaurants are nearby!
There is a coffee shop downstairs with excellent service!
The communication with the owner has been excellent! Very responsive and friendly
Finally, the doorman is a great person, very friendly!Really enjoyed our stay at Ovidio Suite, really great location. – Arthompson from United Kingdom – 1 May 2024 (9/10)
Great location, only 10 minute walk to nearest Metro station if desired. However easy (very flat) 50 minute walk and you're by the colosseum. Lovely coffee shop below and great local restaurants.
Group of 8 of us stayed and we had ample room, all bedrooms were great size with their own en suites.would highly recommend – Aaron from United Kingdom – 16 March 2023 (8/10)
location
Superb – Elena from Romania – 10 October 2022 (9/10)
The apartment is very nice, very close to stores and in a central area. Everything was very nice❤️
Great location but a bit soulless. – Alisdair from United Kingdom – 9 September 2023 (6/10)
Excellent location near the Vatican. Great neighbourhood with cafes, restaurants and shops near by. Air conditioning kept the place cool and the wifi was good. Modern apartment with decent facilities. Apartment was cleaned and towels changed mid way through stay.
What could be improved: Apartment only has the kitchen and dining area as places to socialise. The kitchen is small for five bedrooms and would not like to try and cook a meal for more than five people. While the bedrooms are a good size they are a bit soulless and the apartment needs some maintenance of the decoration. The automatic light in the hall was a pain and not sure of its purpose when you can leave the air-conditioning on when you leave the property.Very disappointing. Place could be nice if under better management! – Frank from United States – 28 July 2023 (3/10)
We liked the location! We liked that they solved two problems quickly. We liked the number of bathrooms and the size. We also like that there was a washer.
Although they were quick to bring us paper towels, laundry soap and more TP. It should have been stocked before we checked in! It points to a bigger issue which is that they do not care for this place or have anyone who is doing quality control!!
What could be improved: We had no water at all upon check in. Showers and sinks didn't turn on. It was fixed within an hour or so.
First morning they were repaving the street outside. It was loud construction beginning at 7am. It was like having the trucks and beeping inside our room. We had a two hour travel delay the day before so we had gotten to bed super late.
It was miserable!
Then they only provided one small bath towel per person for 4-5 days. We asked for more and they cleaners that were scheduled for day 3 never showed up with our clean towels!
Also, the place had no laundry soap, little toilet paper and a couple of paper towels. We asked for them at check in and they got them to us by the next day.
There was no coffee or water provided. No salt, pepper, anything.
Many things were broken. This place is not cared for, looked after or stocked for its visitors. We were all extremely disappointed! Not being able to make a cup of coffee in the place was also very unfortunate.Superb – Hanne from Denmark – 29 April 2025 (9/10)
At det lå så centralt. Man kunne gå rundt for at se mange seværdigheder. Nemt at finde et sted at spise når vi var 10 personer
What could be improved: Servicen ( glas, kopper, tallerkener), det var meget mangelfuldt.Top locatie – Francis from Netherlands – 8 April 2025 (10/10)
De locatie
What could be improved: Geen schone handdoeken 🫤
