Numa Rome Tullo Overview

Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of Rome hotels over the years, and honestly? Most of them either stick you in some touristy nightmare near the Colosseum or dump you way out in the suburbs. But Numa Rome Tullo gets it right – it’s tucked into this narrow little street in Trastevere where you can actually hear yourself think, but you’re still a two-minute walk from all the action on Viale di Trastevere.

The thing about Via della Cisterna is that it’s one of those cobblestone streets that feels properly Roman without being a tourist trap. You know what I mean? Like, you’ll walk past actual locals hanging laundry from their windows and old guys playing cards at the corner café, but you’re not dodging selfie sticks every five seconds. The hotel itself has this modern, minimalist vibe that – I’ll be honest – took me by surprise. I was expecting something more traditional given the neighborhood, but the clean lines and smart tech stuff actually work really well here. The rooms are compact but thoughtfully designed (though if you’re traveling with massive suitcases, you might feel a bit cramped).

What really won me over was the staff’s local knowledge. When I asked about dinner spots, they didn’t just rattle off the usual suspects – they sent me to this tiny trattoria on Via del Moro where I had the best cacio e pepe of my life. And here’s something practical: the soundproofing is actually decent. Trastevere can get pretty lively at night, especially on weekends when the university crowd hits the bars, but inside the hotel it’s surprisingly quiet. The check-in process is mostly digital, which some people love and others find impersonal – depends on your preference, I guess.

One thing to keep in mind is that this area really comes alive after dark. During the day it’s pleasant enough, but evenings in Trastevere are something else entirely. The whole neighborhood transforms into this buzzing social scene, and you’re right in the middle of it all. Plus, if you need to get across the river to the main tourist sites, you can walk to Ponte Garibaldi in about eight minutes. I actually preferred this to staying in the centro storico because you get that authentic Roman neighborhood feel without sacrificing convenience. Just be prepared for those cobblestones – they’re charming but not great for wheeled luggage.

Reviews of Numa Rome Tullo

  • Easy hotel in great location – Celine from Italy – 27 June 2025 (8/10)

Great location, well-designed rooms, clean and comfortable, easy access

What could be improved: It wasn't a problem for me, but the hotel is organized to run on limited staff support, so if you're seeking a place with full concierge services, this isn't it. But if you're happy being fairly autonomous, it's great.

  • Very Nice hotel in a great location – Severine from Israel – 6 June 2025 (8/10)

    The clearness
    The location.

What could be improved: A shower cap should have been nice 🙂

  • Great location, clean room, odd shower placement. – Milan from Belgium – 23 May 2025 (9/10)

The location is great, close to Trastevere train station, close to bus stops to Roma Termini. Walking distance of Circus Maximus, Forum Romanum, Colloseum, Vatican City. Lots of breakfast, lunch and dinner places around, as well as bars.

What could be improved: The bathroom is pretty much in the main space of the room itself, together with the bed. Only the toilet is separated. So probably not the place for a trip with a random friend.

  • Great location, modern and clean rooms, and exceptionally helpful staff. Highly recommended! – Zlil from Israel – 1 April 2025 (9/10)

I arrived at the hotel late at night without a reservation. While the hotel operates a self-check-in system, there was a receptionist present who was incredibly helpful. Both the staff member on-site and the team I communicated with via email were excellent—quick to respond, friendly, and genuinely eager to assist.

Despite booking the last available room that evening, which was a bit too small for me, the next day I noticed that a larger room (standard) had become available. Without hesitation, the staff accommodated my request to move, making the entire process smooth and hassle-free. The room was spacious (larger than most hotel rooms I've stayed in while in Rome), spotlessly clean, and looked brand new.

The hotel’s location in Trastevere is fantastic—right in the heart of the action—but once you close the window, it’s completely quiet inside.

What could be improved: The only minor issue I encountered was with the hot water in the shower—it took some time to heat up and wasn't always consistent. Additionally, while communication via email was excellent, improving responsiveness on WhatsApp could make it even more convenient for guests who prefer instant messaging.

  • Superb – Maria from Portugal – 29 January 2025 (9/10)

The location was amazing (right in the center of Trastevere), it was very clean and the beds were comfortable.

What could be improved: The only downside is that the room is not as spacious as the pictures suggest. It is difficult to have 3 people all at the same time in such a small room.

  • Superb – Anne-marie from United Kingdom – 25 January 2025 (9/10)

    Just great

  • Good place – Dmitrii from Russia – 18 January 2025 (9/10)

Location, ease of checking in and out, people who work there, the room itself, the view. I felt comfortable there.

What could be improved: Something is wrong with the shower door, because water leaks through it right to the floor.

  • Good place for short stay and perfect location – Karolina from Latvia – 15 January 2025 (8/10)

Tea, coffee, water and earpluggs. Good place to stay, comfortable room, nice breakfast nearby ( avocado toast reccomended!:)

What could be improved: Too small shower cabin for tall people 🙂

  • Excepcional – Lina from Colombia – 11 January 2025 (8/10)

Everything around was beautiful good place to stay near all

  • Very good – Joseph from United Kingdom – 19 November 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: Heating was far too hot and unable to be adjusted, so we had to leave the window open the entire time. Luckily it wasn’t raining
